Some webmaster do read that board. I believe @WebmasterDoc and @WebmasterAlex can answer more of those questions.
Thanks, I was just curious if they used it as a source of gathering information.

Unless I am crazy, they are gone now.Yes that is a new thing that is now being done.
They might be but I don't know much about that. That is a question for the webmasters.Unless I am crazy, they are gone now.

I can't tell because I don't see them on my home computer. I'll have to check at work tomorrow.Unless I am crazy, they are gone now.
I meant the ads in the middle of threads.I still have an autoplay one running just now so not totally gone
I meant the ads in the middle of threads.
I'd like to echo the ads that spontaneously begin playing cause me to close the browser. If I go to CNN, their reports also automatically start playing, but at least I can pause it without being instantly directed to another website. Today as I was listening to the DIS daily fix, I was "serenaded" by an advert for a TV program. I could not pause it or stop the ad (which was interrupting the DIS content) without clicking on it. My browser immediately opened that site, which I didn't want. Now, based on this experience, I know that if I get an ad that has video/sound, I have to either click on it or close the DIS forum page.
My response when these sound/video adverts play are to close the tab with the DISforum. Sometimes I come back, sometimes I take care of other matters. My hope in sharing is that admin realize that this type of ad is causing folks to leave the site, who will miss other non-video adverts altogether as well as DIS forum content. This seems contrary to the enticement that ads and content are meant to supply to the forum participant.
I ask that admin reconsider allowing ads on the forum that will spontaneously play sound/video. If the ads are managed by a third party, I encourage a conversation about how their management is turning off forum participants and in a way losing revenue due to these types of ads. Thanks for reading this feedback; it's offered respectfully and in recognition that adverts may be necessary to keep the forums running well.
Seriously, these auto running ads are freezing up my browser (Safari) about 50% of the time and otherwise causing pages to reload much more often than in the past -- it's just about destroying the usability of the Dis for me, at least on my phone.
Mods & Webmaters, I understand that monetization is necessary but can someone please tell Corey and Pete that this is killing the GUEST EXPERIENCE (key words) for many of us on the Dis????
Only half facetiously, i also ask how much I have to give on Patreon to avoid the effects of this new ad policy???

It took me about 20 min to try to send one PM this morning. The computer kept freezing, and I heard a motor vehicle ad. I reloaded the page three times to send one PM. The audio ad didn't stop playing. And right now there's a Nissan ad, and ….it's….. like… waiting… for the letters…. to appear on the screen to send this post. (Change that already had to close out and restart the page to send this post.)![]()
@WebmasterCoreyright now I have an ad playing in the bottom right slot. for this one the audio is muted. Its for UX at WeWork? I have had Chrome sort of lock up. I think its was having issues retrieving the ad it wanted to play. Edge seems to work better.
I just opened the DIS in Edge and got the same muted ad.
Have you tried clearing cache and cookies?right now the DIS page in chrome just locked up, aka Page Unresponsive. Its like its constantly refreshing.

Again nothing a moderator can do. Best to contact webmasters and try the tech support board.Sorry, the page reloaded in the middle of typing that. I've cleared cache and will see if that's helps. But why would so many of us have the exact sameness problem now if it were a matter of our device caches ? Seems more likely to be a Dis END issue to me.
