I have to vent! Chhris and I went out for dinner last night, as we do every often. We are at our shore house for the weekend. We were having a lovely dinner when another gay couple walked in the restaurant - they were seated close to us. We both said hi and they just looked at us and turned their head, ignored us. Now this really doesn't "upset me" but it makes me wonder WTH is up with some people. We have seen this attitude on several occasions.

Did they want to be the only gay couple in this restaurant and were they upset when they saw us? We did not want to join them or even chat the whole time - we just said HI. We said HI to every other table near us as they were all pretty close and everyone else said HI back! Even some back and forth conversation.

Anyway what's with the attitude guys?

Maybe they just didn't want to interact? Not sure, of course but that might have been the case, rather than being deliberately rude.

I know when we go out to dinner, we go to share the time with each other and don't want to interact beyond a simple hello with anyone. Servers are sometimes obnoxiously familiar and start chatting about "things" that we have no interest in at that time. We aren't there for them, you see rather to enjoy one another's company.

So, perhaps that was what that particular couple had in mind, too? :confused3

We have run into the same problem...

It seems a lot of guys mistake a simple "Hi" for something more than what it is.

"Honey, just cuz I say hi, does not mean I want in your pants!" :lmao:

I don't think it's just the guys. We find the guys to be more friendly than other lesbian couples. We have more gay male friends than lesbian friends. There's a woman at work I said hi to a few years ago and geninuinly thought I recognized her from somewhere so I talked to her. She barely acknowledges me, DP reckons she thought I was coming on to her. :confused3 Whatever

My partner and I have had similar experiences with less than friendly lesbian couples, but have many wonderful gay male friends. While we love our hetero friends dearly, we'd like to have some more lesbian couples for friends, but thus far, most of the couples we've met have acted rather frosty toward us :sad1:

hmmm - I promise I didn't wantto get them in my pants :rotfl2:

Now you all may be onto something - we have never had this issue with lesbian couples - in fact we have more Lesbian friends than guy friends. We have more straight friends than anything!

when I say "Hi" "Bye" or "How's your cat" - it all means Let's do it!

I've run into that here in Vancouver. Even walking down the street in the gay district you can't smile at a guy without him thinking you're trying to come on to him. Pretty arrogant. I smile at people all the time. I think some of these guys have their heads so far up their you know whats they can't see the woods for the trees.:crazy2:

As a straight couple we've not had that sort of issues; but could be perception. it has seemed when we've smiled, said hello gay couples appreciate a friendly greeting... I guess that goes hand in hand to comments in post 1.

Actually this is kind of a thing with me - been told many times by friends that I am oblivious to when a guys is coming on to me. Guess I miss the subtleties of "the dance". But I'm good with overt grand gestures! :flower3:

Just curious, how do you know they were a gay couple?

if this is a silly question, don't laugh too hard at me. :)

I promise I knew. It may have been the glitter on one's flip flops, or the how dare another gay couple be in this establishment look that we got. Or the very reasons Wally gave :)

And the more I think about it the more I disagree that they thought we were coming on to them - we said HI for goodness sake.

:rotfl2: I'm not going to be able to say hi ever again now without laughing! Thanks Mike!

If you said it to me - in just that same way -
I'm sure my pants would fall to the ground. :flower3:
