well Jason....long is a relative term.. one person's long post might be considered by another to be a short post. Some people feel the need to be far more verbose than other people. You know how it is some people can just drone on and on and on and on and on without really saying anything while others get right to the point. It doesnt' make the people that drone on wrong it's just their way of expressing themself's. Brevity is good except when it interferes with clarity. Clarity is, after all, the essence of communication and should really be the ultimate goal in any form of communication. Combining clarity with brevity is really the ultimate goal but I think that clarity is more important then brevity for producing effective communicaton.
Sometimes though brevity can interfere with our ultimate goal of producing clear communication as can being too verbose. It's a matter of striking that happy medium that still allows you to communicate effectively.
