What's with all the teenagers?

Maybe it's just that I'm getting older and can't adequately judge age of younger folk anymore, but it seems to me that we've encountered an extraordinary number of large groups of meandering teenagers this trip. They haven't been any trouble at all -- not rude, obnoxious, or anything of the sort -- I'm just wondering why the heck they aren't in school in the middle of a Thursday in September. What gives?
