What's with all of the ranting on the DIS?!?!

I don't quite understand it, but lately, everyone is ranting about one thing or another about WDW? Umbrellas, side by side strollers, cast members, personal space, handicap access, etc. It's always been here, but over the last few weeks, the DISboards seem to have become less about what's fun and informative about WDW, and more about "What's your beef?!" There are even coarse, rude threads about coarse and rude behavior at the parks? :confused3 What's up, everyone?

You said what I wanted to say for awhile now!
Everytime I log on there is yet another post about someone complaining what they didn't see, hear, or receive for free and then they return home complaining. :sad2: If you choose to whine, complain, moan about everything under the sun, it is no surprise that you don't have a good time. :confused3
Thanks for posting!

No offense, but wouldn't THIS topic be considered complaining as well? A complaint thread about complaints....somethings never cease to amaze me.
I hoped it wouldn't happen, but I figured that someone might have a cynical take on this thread. This isn't a complaint thread about complaints, just a plea for a little civility to come back to the DISboards. That's all. I'm glad to see so many are with me. Maybe it will make checking out the boards a little more fun than usual.

I was talking to my wife the other night and I was telling her that I'm at the point where I don't like checking the DIS every day because all the posts are about are bad experiences, bad children, bad strollers, bad bus riders, bad food, bad everything.

And the more I thought about it, the more I realized, people just expect PERFECTION from Disney and when it's anything short of perfect, it feels like a bad experience. I don't expect perfection from Disney, but after visiting places like Astroworld and Six Flags New Orleans, Disney is closer to perfection than most of us know.

Another problem is that this society seems to have a sense of entitlement. Everybody feels like they're entitled to a magical time at Disney. Everybody feels like they're entitled to have the CMs go out of their way for them because it's their birthday, or their first trip to Disney or their Disneymoon.

The problem is expectations. Expectations should be high, no doubt, but not to the point where any little thing will diminish your experience.

Disney is what YOU make it. If you go there looking for rude people on buses, or kids invading your personal space, or bad CMs, you WILL FIND THEM. Disney is no different than anywhere else in the world, we just all think it is.

I'm fairly new to DISboads and I too over the past two weeks noticed an increase in rants --which is okay but the bickering over them?. It seems when someone posts their opinion or an innocent observation someone takes it sooo personal and starts a debate over it.
Exactly! I posted on another thread and it felt like others took it as a personal attack, when I was only stating my personal opinion. What's next, a brawl over Tot vs RnR???? I wanted to say "I don't know most of you, so who CARES what I think??????"

:badpc:

It's too bad because I've read these boards for months as I planned my latest trip and lately I am feeling as if the fun has been sucked out of it. :sad2:

This is so true. I have been saying this for a long time and not just about Disney.

LOL - point taken, but...

ITA with the OP.

Honestly, I admit I have made a few posts myself lately that I am embarassed about. One thread in particular when I just got caught up in a post. Although I did have strong, (IMHO legitimate) feelings I didn't handle myself as I usually do - or would like to. Instead of making my point I was rude to the OP. I did already apologize but still - once you say something it really can't be recanted.

I try and teach my kids that once you say something it is in the world forever - no takes back. Apologies help but bad deed/word is still already done. We talk about the ripple a stone makes in water and try to make good ripples / not bad. Unfortunately for the first time (I hope) recently I made bad ripples. I know its juvinile but it works for my family and I am going to try and get back to that.

Hopefully I can contribute with opinions and information while still being considerate when others have a different perspective, experience or opinion.
