No matter where they are stress cracks could be a major issue. In the first place stress cracks are hard to repair because they tend to continue to expand after the repair. Secondly repair only covers up the underlying problem which is the fact that the structure itself is under designed. In a long-term the only true solution normally is a complete redesign and rebuilding of the structure to solve the original design problem.
In this case I'm sure the short term solution (possibly the final solution) will be to stop or limit the movement of the Yeti to increase the safety for the visitors and to reduce further damage. No matter how you look at it it's not a pleasant situation.
This seems the most logical reason. As I said he does swing with the force of a 747 taking off every time a "train" goes by. And over time that has to do some damage.
Also while I was working there, a coworker told me how one time the Yeti's arm was "broken" and guests were trying to high-five him from the train.
Poor Yeti, they need to fix it
.

What??
