What's up with the water in MK?

I don't know what it is, but the water in MK is absolutely disgusting! Even the soda was nasty (tasted like the water). Really strange though, because the water in MGM wasn't that bad, and the water in Epcot wasn't bad at all. What gives??

The water around MK has a high sulfur content and always tastes bad.
It seemed like we were starting to taste some "MK water" at some of the places around EPCOT in our last visit (1st week of June).
I'm sure it is ok to drink but certainly doesn't taste ok.
I'm thinking they pull the water from bay lake for treatment to use around MK.
I know that it helps the bottled water sales and soda sales around the park.
Seems to have been this way for years around MK....I just hope it doesn't keep spreading around WDW.
Sorry to agree with you.

I remember visiting as a child with my parents, and not being able to stand the taste of the tap water, or the non-bottled pop (which is made with the same water).

Now that I live down here, I don't notice the taste nearly as much. I still prefer filtered water to tap water, but I can drink the pop from the machines (cheaper than bottled)

Disney makes no secret about the fact that they provide lousey fountain water so you will purchase the bottled water........... :rolleyes1

Well, we haven't fallen into the 'trap' of buying the bottled water. We still drink from the fountains/bubblers. Is it great? No, but it won't kill ya and it's better than shelling out $2.50 for a bottle of 'good' water and carrying it around with you. We now just make a habit of taking a quick sip or two when we pass those fountains. Stay hydrated but not overflowing.

We are from Maine and our water comes from very deep reserves/wells- it's crisp and tasty.... we will gladly pay $2.50 a bottle so we don't have to drink liquid sulfur. I think it's just a difference in geography. I was the only one in the family who noticed the fountain soda tasted bad though.

Last month when we were there we got ice water all over MK and it was good to us. I don't know why, maybe because it was so cold and we were so hot and thirsty. I don't care for lugging a bottle of water around that will be hot in 5 minutes anyway, not to mention paying $2.50 for it when I can get water with ice for free. When i'm that hot, I don't want soda or even bottled water, I really really want ice water.

Either I'm building up a tolerance or the water is actually getting better. I went right after one of the major hurricanes last year and the water was as bad as it's ever been. I've been twice more since then and it had gotten much better. Even the tap water in the resorts has gotten better.
