My 10 days began yesterday and I have not been able to do online check-in. Is the system down? Is anyone else having the same problem? FYI I am going through the DVC website to do my check-in and am able to input everything but when I hit "Submit" it tells me to call MS. I did not opt to enter a CC# and I wonder if that had something to do with it although it said it was not necessary. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. TIA.

This happened to me for my December trip. The CM's told me it was problem with the system upgrade or something like that.
I ended up having to check in at the resort

I thought if you did online check in you had to submit a cc#. I remember many posters complaining that they wanted to use rewards cards to pay for DDP and found that it was charged to their CC's on arrival because they did online check in.

I'd be interested to learn if it has become optional to submit a CC# for online checkin. Besides won't you need to submit a CC# at the resort anyway, so what would be the advantage of doing online checkin?

Actually, we prefer not to have a CC# of file. I have already paid for the DDP and do not plan on charging anything to our room. Last May we did online check-in and did not want charging privileges and it was ok. No problem. I will go back and attempt to check-in again using a CC just to see if it will take it. I'll let you know if I am successful. If I am, I wonder how this works when you have multiple family members and you only want you & your DH to have charging privileges.

Well I went and attempted to check us in online using a credit card and it still didn't work! At this point I guess we will just check-in at the resort.

One time I had trouble with on line check in, and the odd problem had to do with zip codes. I think I had to take off the last 4 digits of the 9 digit zip to make the check in work. It seemed a strange thing, but it worked.

Didn't work for me in January either. OP do you have a segmented reservation or a linked reservation. I had a linked one with dining partial. I kept thinking that was causing me not to do the online checkin. I've done it many times in the past with no problem.

Sorry to hear it didn't work for the OP even with a CC#. Maybe if you try again in a few days it'll work then.

I think it would be a good idea to notify MS that online checkin isn't working. Perhaps they already know it, but if not then MS can make sure someone in IT gets to work on it.

It didn't work for me in Oct, but when I arrived at Kidani they said it went through & they had everything waiting for me.

You know I never thought of this but yes, we are staying 1 night at VWL and the next day transferring to OKW for a week plus we have the DDP for the OKW part of the trip. This might be the problem even though the online check-in was linked and indicated I was actually checking in for both reservations. I'm going to give it another try in the next few days.

Yes, DenLo, I will give it another try in the next few days and if doesn't work I am going to notify MS.

Thanks all for your advice. Much appreciated!:)

I was never able to do it for our trip last Nov. It kept showing an "Error, try again later" kind of response. It was frustrating, but we checked in at the resort(VWL) and would have been fine except the folks in front of us had a problem and it took forever. Finally another CM came out because things were really backing up. All the other times I've used on-line check-in, it's been very smooth and quick. I hope they get everything fixed soon.:surfweb:

You may have to make that change at the check-in desk. As I understand it, the default for online check-in is to give all adults charging privileges. If you want to remove them for some, they need to print out new keys for those people.

No, you don't have to use a CC#. I have checked in online twice without one.

We had a split stay last month and MS indicated that there is a system issue with split stays for the on-line checkin. You may need to check in when you arrive as we did. Have a great trip!

I am having a problem too. We are staying at the boardwalk villas for four nights next week. Just tried to online check-in and it says contact member services. I am wondering if it is because we had to waitlist the first night and it came through because it is showing two rooms right now...the first night and the next three nights. Very annoying because we didn't want to stand in line for check-in when we arrived.
