What's Universal like at Christmas?

We're going in December and have never been at Christmas. I know Seuss Landing is all decked out, New York at the Studios is decked out, and each resort has a tree in the lobby. What else should we expect? Is there Christmas music playing throughout the parks, hotels (we're staying at Hard Rock)? Are any other areas of the parks or City Walk decorated? How about the rest of the Hard Rock?

Though I'm all for a bit of Christmas, too much takes me out of the Disney spirit. Hoping the same doesn't go for Universal.

There will be a Christmas tree in the lobby of your hotel and some Christmas decorations in the parks. They tried a new thing with Christmas decorations and theming in the Harry Potter lands which worked quite well but also made the areas insanely crowded. They did a light show on the castle that was well done.

It's not nearly as Christmas-oriented as Disney is, so I think you'll enjoy that.

I definitely did not think it was overkill on Christmas decorations. I felt like the ones in the HP areas were very subtle. We liked the trees in RPR (they had two). The light show was fun on the castle. The holiday parade was a lot cooler than I was expecting (I'm not a big parade person). They do have Christmas music in some areas of the parks. The one I remember most was Port of Entry in IOA. We seemed to always catch Pat a Pan there (I'm guessing they play it a lot since it fits the theme of the area very well).

There is Christmas music playing in the parks. There's a huge Christmas tree in US. I thoroughly enjoyed the decorations in HP. It wasn't overdone and seemed natural. The have holiday themed entertainment with the Blues Brother Show, the Macy's parade, Celestina Warbeck in HP, and I'm sure there are more. It's definitely more lowkey than WDW

By the time you leave Universal Studios you'll want to find a car to jump in front of. You will hear "All I Want for Christmas is You" from Mariah Carey about 50 times during the day.
Make sure to catch the Blues Brothers Christmas show....good stuff.

Ugh. Bummer. I like the regular music, especially at Islands. Jurassic Park, Seuss Landing, Lost Continent, Port of Entry, Toon Lagoon - The music brings those areas to life. Same thing for Springfield over at the Studios.

Where was Mariah Carey playing in the parks all day??

I genuinely must have missed that.......I love that song!
