Given the childrens' ages, the grandparents could conceivably be in their early forties. Equally, the parents could be in their forties (so the grandparents in their 60s, 70s, or beyond). Imho, making decisions based on family status might be less than well-advised.If you choose DVC or a suite, keep in mind that not everyone may have an actual bed. Sometimes the sleeping "surfaces" are pull out sofas or chairs and those are not comfortable. Would not be ideal for a grandparent, even an active able-bodied one.
