What's to do on a rainy day?

I wanted to get some ideas about what to do on a rainy day at WDW. Something besides the typical Disney Quest suggestion. Here's a couple of my ideas to get the ball rolling:

1. Visit the resorts - The resorts are a great place to spend some time on a rainy day. Exploring, dinner at a restaurant, drinks at a lounge.... there's a lot to do. The resorts are a big part of Disney that a lot of visitors overlook. I like to think of them as "mini-parks".

2. Browse the Shops - That's right... I said it. It's happened to everyone. You're walking right down the middle of Mainstreet USA, when it starts raining. What do you do? Run into the first open door you see. What's on the other side of that door? Who cares, its just keeping you dry. Well, rather than crowding into a doorway and watching the streets get wet, try actually browsing around the store. Its not as crowded as you think. Most of the people are crammed at the doorway waiting. Most of the shops are connected, so there's no need to go outside.

Add your good rainy day ideas if you have any. Great places to eat on a rainy day at WDW, great spots to take pictures on a rainy day, whatever you can think of.

If it is going to be an all day rain and you are a DVC member, you can go and get free movie rentals at the gift shop.

We also head down to the parks if it is raining. We just put on our ponchos and go.

definitley do the parks - because everyone else has left.... especially Epcot!
you need to walk outside to get to the rides - but most of it rides are inside.
this is a good time to visit all the little things in the rides - that you don't generally have time for - give everything a good look.

go back to the resort - take a nap!!!

go shopping off site.

definitely get the movie rental.

I agree with the resort visiting idea. Especially those with a monorail stop - taking a loop around the monorail, complete with shopping and dining excursions at each stop, is a hidden, free treasure.

I also look for rides with indoor or covered queues - POTC, Spaceship Earth, Stitch's Escape.

Not that it is anywhere near safe, but as a kid I would always enjoy swimming in a pool while raining. Obviously there's a lightning hazard there, but that's never stopped me from being "stupid". :hyper:

Put on rain gear and go to the parks. Crowds will be very low and if it's summertime it will be cooler! :cool1:

Go to Animal Kingdom. Wear flip-flops and a poncho. The safari is full of activity, it seems the animals don't mind the wet at all. Plus, you're already wet and wearing a poncho, it's the perfect time to ride Kali. I rode it the first time in the rain, and to be honest if it's a perfectly sunny day I stay away. There's just something about riding it in the rain. :bitelip:

As long as you're not the wicked witch of the west--you won't melt from a little rain.

Umm Hello Stay in the room ;) *wink, wink* and let the kids have a great day at Disney Quest!
