My granny, mother, myself and DD are taking my cousin to her friend's house in Raleigh. My granny wants to spend the weekend there. What is there to do? (I don't know what part of Raleigh her friend lives in.)

I've never been there, Jules. I'll just bump this up for you :)

My brother lives in Cary, North Carolina, which is right next to Raleigh. I visit him often, and well, basically there is not a heck of alot to do there. When I come there, we just hang out around the house, go shopping at the infinite number of strip malls, or take walks along the busy roads. I never even been to Raleigh, since my brother even admits there is nothing much to do there, and there is no place he can think of to take me for sightseeing. He even been thinking of moving away from that area of NC to a place with more "local flavor", as I think he thinks Raleigh/Cary is boring.

Oh well, hope you can find something there that interests you!

If you are up to driving about 1-1/2 hour from Raleigh, the NC Zoo is in Asheboro. We just went there today and enjoyed it. There is alot of shopping in Raleigh, but as far as other things to recommend, I have nothing to add to the list above.

Here's a few more.

Pullen Park They have an indoor pool, water crafts, a train that runs around the park and a merry-go-round. You have to purchase tickets for each ride. The park area has a section for toddlers and one for older kids. My son loved going to Pullen Park on the weekends.

Playspace is a great place for small kids.

Check out the schedule for Walnut Creek, they may have a nice concert while you're there.

Cameron Village has lots of little shops

HugsforEEyore is right, there's not much to do there (compared to NYC) but you can still have a good time during your visit.
