What's the worst thing you've ever been woken up to?

That my dad was dead... Now I dread any communication after midnight.

Cat retching 😬

Many years ago, my youngest child saying "Look, mommy, what (cat's name) brought me in my room"... dangling a badly injured (but not yet dead) mouse over my face by it's tail.

When I was a kid we had a huge hay barn go up in flames early one morning, we lost several horses and some equipment that morning. That was rough. Ironically my mother lost another horse at a barn fire in Fair Hill, MD about 20 years later....

Less serious, I've twice been woken up around 4:30 or 5 AM by my husband yelling because he had let the dogs out (common) but that they had been hit by a skunk. Nothing more fun for person or pup than a cold hose wash off at 5 AM!

Several calls in the middle of the night with news of deaths or hospital time needed.

On a cruise ship.....1am, loud speaker looking for a person with a certain blood type.

Sounds in the driveway of someone breaking into our car

It was 1:36 am. My cell phone rang. It was my daughter screaming. I ran across the street to her house to find ambulances outside. My six-year-old granddaughter had been rushed out by the EMTs after a severe asthma attack that had led to cardiac arrest. We followed the ambulance to the hospital. She was put on life support and after a day and a half we had to say goodbye to her.

This is tmi so feel free to scroll

I had my oldest 8 weeks early due to placental abruption. I woke up to hemorrhaging . But I didn’t know it at the time. Just saw a puddle of bright red blood. I felt it and thought my water broke. My daughter was born aboit 5 hours later. Healthy. And now an active 13 year old.

I’m so sorry that’s so awful.

I woke up to my actual water breaking.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Something I’m sure you will never get over.

Sixteen years old sitting in a tree deer hunting and fell fast asleep. Woke up as I was falling into a briar patch from the tree. Not a good feeling.

Well lately it’s the 3 am and 4 am sirens that happen 3x in 2 weeks down the hill from us. First night one house had its wood shack set on fire. Was arson. Second time was a woman’s car set on fire. Arson Turns out woman dated wood shack guy. Some ex of here’s has gone crazy. 3rd time were just cops as she heard sounds and freaked out.

Don’t jump to conclusions I actually live in a nice neighborhood there’s just this one street down the hill that kind of has... well put it this way people that you just wanna avoid.

Annoying thing to wake up to is when your heater goes out and there is no hot water in the morning. Or On a serious note having your spouse die in the night next to you. Happened to my great Aunt and MIL.

Once I was woken up by the dog in my room panting. Not so bad, pretty normal. Then the smell of 💩 hit me. My other dog had pooped multiple times in the downstairs hall and kitchen (on tile, thankfully) and I got to clean up horrific smelling poop at 2am on a work night. Then there was more poop when I woke up at 6.

A person with two broken legs tapping on our front door in the middle of the night, after he'd drug himself across the yard and onto our porch. He'd been buying drugs and got into an altercation with the drug dealer, who hit him with his car and fled. It was probably the scariest thing I've ever experienced.

Garage on fire. (A shop building across the driveway, not attached to house.) DH woke up when our electricity went out, then realized there was flickering light in our window.

December 2005- bad winter storm
Woke up to a large limb of our eucalyptus tree crashing through our master bedroom ceiling. Just missed our bed. I've never jumped out of bed faster in my life! Next morning, cleaned up mess and took out the rest of tree. No more eucalyptus trees, they are notorious for splitting and breaking off large limbs.

Woken up several times to "Mommy, I peed my bed" and having to wash sheets, pjs, mattress pad (thank goodness for waterproof ones) and comforters in the middle of the night - all while DH slept soundly with little DS in my spot and me on the couch waiting for the laundry.

But the funniest (now) was when younger DS, at 3ish, woke up at 2 in the morning screaming that he was dying. He had thrown up all over his bed and that had never happened to him, so he thought all his insides were coming out and he was going to die. We calmed him down and washed him off (and I had to put a change of everything on his bed). I told him to come and get me if his tummy felt like that again. 2 more times, he woke me to take him to the bathroom for more bouts. Then by 5am, he came in again and I rushed up, but he said, "No, mommy, I did it all by myself. I just wanted to tell you." What a trooper. :)
