What's the Worst Restaurant in all of WDW?

As for Hollywood & Vine, we've done dinner twice and both times it was absolutely horrible: 25 to 30 minute wait past our ADR time, terrible service...took forever to get drinks, plates removed, check at end, food was bland, lukewarm and took forever to refil when something ran out in the buffet line and the place was filthy. Now, you will see that a lot of people like thish place. We love buffets, but this was was just disgusting in our minds. Note, that the characters appear at H&V only at breakfast and lunch, not dinner.

Gee, we must have gone on the same day!:lmao: This was also our experience at H&V, the only WDW restaurant we will never to back to!:sad2:

For me, there are several ways to define "worst"...And these are my opinions. Others may feel differently.

Worst, in terms of not meeting expectations based on the hype here - Kona.

Worst in terms of an actual food item that was gross - the hamburgers at Mickey's Backyard BBQ. Although we had an absolute blast and will go back again. We'll just stick to the hot dogs and ribs next time. The kids macaroni and cheese found throughout WDW property is a close second.

Worst, in terms of value for the money - Tutto Italia. The food was fine, but I would never go there if paying out of pocket. Waaay overpriced, even for Disney.

Worst in terms of service - for me, the Play and Dine breakfast at Hollywood & Vine. 2 times in a row we had a terrible server...and it was a buffet, so obtaining coffee and the check should not be as much of a struggle as it was.

Worst in terms of atmosphere - Garden Grill. We sat on the upper level, so there was no view of "The Land", only "The sky". And while the place is rotating and you're in the front, it's LOUD and I felt like I was much too on display for the people that were waiting. Add to that a less than stellar server and it wasn't a great time for us.

The absolute worst service I have had anywhere- at the World or elsewhere- is the breakfast at Play at Dine at Hollywood and Vine. Probably one of the only times we refused to leave a tip. How hard is it to refill coffee at a buffet?!? A real shame, because my kids were so looking forward to it and it started our day of rotten:sad2:

So...just curious about two I keep seeing come up. What don't people like about them...The Rainforest Cafe and Hollywood & Vine. We were planning to eat at both on our trip in Feb. We enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe when we went last time, granted about 10 years ago.... And we thought our daughter would like to eat with the Playhouse Disney character...hence Hollywood & Vine. So if people could give some specifics, I'd appreciate it!!

Hollywood and Vine has terrible service. The charcters are fine but slow. The food was slow to be refilled on the buffet and often cold. The servers seem miserable. It took forever just to get coffee refills. The waitress acted as if we were bothering her. I know that at WDW I am often paying a little more for the experience... and that's fine. But, this woman acted as if she worked at the most miserable place on earth, not the happiest:confused: It broke my heart to see my kids so dissappointed. It is hard to start off your day on such a sour note. But, it could have been the day and maybe you'll have better luck.

Playing the devil's advocate here, but we enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe and have eaten there many times. We do, however, prefer the one at the AK as opposed to DTD as the service is better, and believe it or not, so is the food. But being that RC is a chain, it's not surprising. My family (not me) likes the pizza there and I like the plant sandwich. We've had several different things there that were fresh and tasty and I really wouldn't hesitate to recommend giving it a try. As for H&V I've heard consistent bad reviews but everyone knows how to form their own opinions based on what they like.

Tony's Town Square! Although I have to say my worst tasting meal was at Coral Reef (mahi mahi), but good service and the view saved the experience, not to mention the chocolate wave....mmmmm!

We ate at Cape May for the first time on our last trip in spite of the many negative reviews I've seen here. The food was very good. We've eaten at most of the restaurants at WDW. Over the years, we've had both good and bad food at just about all of them, both TS and CS. The only places that I recall as being consistently good are V&A and California Grill. When we get a not-so-good meal, we don't necessarily cross the place off our list for a return try. We've been pleasantly surprised on several occasions.

My only caveat would be the ABC Commissary. We gave it a couple of tries and have never been back.

DisFlan

Our worst was the Electric Umbrella. DIRTY beyond belief. I might peek my head back in there next time if we are hungry for CS just to see. But that was our worst so far...

This was our worst CS meal! My friend was just raving about it the other day, about it being the best on property and I was like are you kidding me?? Even if we had liked it, I don't know where that woman has been that she found it to be so great!

Pepper Market for us. . . Over-priced and the rudest service ever. :sad2:

We actually love this place, but the last time we were there, there were roaches crawling all over the poll at the mexican stand. Can't bring myself to go back there.

Our worst was 50's Primetime- worst food I have ever attempted to eat in my life. I didn't eat it and had dessert instead.
Also our meal at Liberty Tree was disgusting - the turkey tasted like lunch meat and the beef was overl salty. Just gross!
We also didn't like the Crystal Palace dinner buffet much either.

Now, some people love those places, but they were icky to us.

I saw someone said they hated the electric umbrella in Epcot, yet that is one of our FAVE places to eat - so go figure.

Rainforest (both locations) is probably least favorite, food is ok but service has been anissue more tahn not. Next would be Coral Reef, very nice view but food is marginal and very over priced. The worst experience I have ever had at Disney Restaurant was at Flying Fish this past May. For whatever reason food and service were just way off, I was using DDE and had 7 guests that all felt the same way. Have not been back yet but will try again sometime, never happened before.

For fun, and because of the reason that you pointed out above, I've been following along with the Favorite Disney World Restaurant thread, along with this one. My results are by no means scientific, and I could have missed a few here, but....

What Restaurants Appear in both threads?

50's PTC
Cape May Cafe
Chef Mickey's
Coral Reef
Crystal Palace
Kona
LeCellier
'Ohana
Tutto Italia
Whispering Canyon Cafe
Yachtsman

I just thought it was entertaining to see that it's really up to the individual. For me, I generally found that hyped restaurants with menus that didn't appeal to me - didn't work for me. The exception is Jiko. I didn't like the menu, but loved my meals there. (which ironically Jiko hasn't made the worst list - yet) :rotfl:

I would say Coral Reef based on value. it was not worth the money.

Overall, ABC Commissary. UGH! I have tried a few things to give it a chance, and disliked them all!

Great Question. I'll be interested to compare answers to those in this thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1897788.

For me there are several nominees; Fultons, Big River Grill, Rain Forest (either one), Planet Hollywood, San Angel Inn, Hollywood & Vine, Tony's Town Square.

I'll add Counter Service--anything at the Studios and the food court at the Caribbean--went twice and first time only two stations were open and the place was filthy, the second time I got a cheeseburger and let me just say I'd rather eat at McDonald's every night of the week then go back to Old Port Royale.

Chef Mickey's and Hollywood and Vine

For the poster that mentioned the corn dog nuggets, I also got sick off those nuggets, years ago. I to this day will not eat corn dogs in any shape nor eat at Cosmic Rays.

I would have to say Chef Mickey's is the worst!!! There are others but that place tops my list.

For me, it would be Mama Melrose!:sad2: I left HUNGRY after paying 14.00 for a teeny tiny eggplant parmesian, I swear it was the size of a Half Dollar.
