We are planning on the week of 12/15 thorugh 12/22 - what is the weather like - days and nights at that time of year?
You can expect:
Warm-to-Cool days.
Chilly-to-downright COLD (and very windy, on occasion) after dark.
Pack items that allow for layers of clothing.
Zip-on gym warm-ups that can be worn over shorts or jeans are great.
Wear them to the parks on the chilly mornings, then, zip 'em off (put in a locker) when the sun warms up.
Later, when a mild daytime outing turns frosty in the evening, zip 'em on again.
It has actually dropped into the lower 30's on some of our winter trips.
(Disney had to replace many to the outdoor plants due to frost damage.)
Thick "letterman-type" jackets are good to pack, too.
We even pack thin thermal underwear in one of our backpacks so we can slip it on in a restroom if we plan on doing a late EMH and there's a WINDY COLD SNAP.
Our earmuffs get plenty of comments (like WHERE can WE get some?) and they can make a damp windy miserable night quite bearable.
OTOH, sometimes the day temps are in the 80's, nights in the upper 60's..
The point is, since the weather is SO VARIABLE (year-to-year, or even day-to-day), and
most folks make a major investment in a WDW trip, it helps to "pack for all temps" just in case. It can save you if there's a turn in the weather.
