What's the stupidest song you've ever heard?

Petula, I hated that song! Whatever happened to Sharon Osborne anyway? Another one hit wonder I suppose.

Come on Eileen might be #1 in my book, but for some reason I like it..:o

Shep, my DH loves Come On Eileen! I hate it though.

Anyone remember Safety Dance by Men Without Hats?

You can dance if you want to, leave the real world far behind

Safety Dance is pretty bad too...lol

Randy Newman's actually a great composer. If you even saw the movie "The Natural", you heard his great score.

Stupid songs:

"To All the Girls Ive Loved before"- Willie Nelson and Julio Igesias
All I can say is YUUUUUCCCKKK!

"Hello Goodbye"- Beatles. No lyrical creativity whatsoever.

I liked the Beatles song. but the Willie Nelson one ---

back in 1987, WHTZ (Z-100) in NYC had a contest. the dj, Scott Shannon, was giving away the "Jukebox From Hell". listeners were encouraged to nominate a song. If Scott added your song to the jukebox, you won a jacket with the station logo. one "lucky" winner would receive the entire jukebox.

I won a jacket by nominating "to All The Girls..."

Hi Blondie, that was Joan Osbourne, and yep, she's in hiding. That song was actually grammy nominated. Then again, so are all the dumb songs.:D

I really love "Safety Dance"! It does have stupid lyrics though.

Another one I find pretty ridiculous is "99 Luft Balloons".

And let's not ever forget, "Met her on a Monday and my heart stood still, Da Doo Run Run Run Da Doo Run Run..." What is THAT???

is it bad that i like a lot of songs named on this thread??? :p  :o

So many Scout camp songs just make me want to commit suicide

LOL!

Hey Girls Scout Leader, do they still sing a song called "Dem Bones" at G.S. camp?

Another "camp song" that will drive me nuts is "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"!

I'm more concerned that you actually admitted something like that. ;) :teeth:

"I'm too sexy for my shirt, too sexy for my shirt, too sexy . . ."
-Right Said Fred

Sandy

Okay, I think the words to this song are THE worst!

Brickell Edie And New Bohemians - What I Am

I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know if you know what I mean
philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
religion is the smile on a dog

I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know if you know what I mean
choke me in the shallow water
before I get too deep
What I am is what I am are you what you are or what?

I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know if you know what I mean
philosophy is a walk on slippery rocks
religion is a light in the fog

I'm not aware of too many things
I know what I know if you know what I mean
choke me in the shallow water
before I get to deep
What I am is what I am are you what you are or what?

Don't let me get too deep

I too admit to liking the song "Drops of Jupiter." :o :) It was, according to our local radio station's web page, the #1 song of 2001 here, so there have to be others that like it too. ;) The lyrics are confusing at first, but if you read through them they're actually really symbollic.

To me, and I could be off on my interpretation the song is about a girl who leaves a guy to 'find herself' ("Now that she's back from that soul vacation") and he wonders if she missed him "while she was looking for herself out there."

JMHO though. ;)

Drops of Jupiter

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking at yourself out there

Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there's time to grow, hey, hey

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way

Repeat 1st Chorus

Hey, I love MacArthur Park...don't understand it but I've alway liked that song! LOL

I've got one...I love the Police but what is up with

do do do da da da is all I want to say to you...

AWFUL!...

First song that popped into my mind was that Barbie Girl song...AWFUL!!

Ah, Shaddupa You Face - a classic! :teeth:

What'sa matta you?
Gotta no respect
Why you looka so sad?
Itsa notso bad
Itsa nicea place
Ah Shaddupa You Face!

***************
Brings a tear to my eye, it does... ;)

And "The Song That Never Ends" was one I used to sing to my sons to drive THEM crazy - Sherry Lewis and Lambchop closed their show with that song.

:teeth:

Thanks for the lyrics to Drops of Jupiter. I heard in an interview that the song writer had a dream about a woman who took a trip to the moon and he wrote it based on that. Some of these songs are killing me!
