What's the story on the Monorail?

My wife and I are leaving next Saturday for 4 glorious days at the Bay Lake Tower.
We got a notice from Disney saying that the Monorail may be running on a reduced schedule and to check with a cast member for further details upon our arrival. Does anybody know the reason for this?

Makes sense. I figured it had to be some sort of maintenance issue. Hopefully it' won't be too reduced since part of our reasoning for staying where we are is that it's "on the monorail".
Oh well, progress has a price.

Hoping for limited down time at the Poly in January...easier taking a stroller on the monorail than the busses.

the monorail is not to relied on in many cases IMHO.... with all the maintenance in the past year I think it has been non working in the middle of the day, every day. A couple of weeks ago there was some small accident on a maintenance track it was down ALL DAY and into the night. (and on a MK EMH night!) it took over an hour to get from MK to the Poly on a boat that afternoon- that evening trying to get back to MK along with hundreds of other guests, we stood in line at the dock for about 1/2 hour, then hoofed it over to the TTC to grab the ferry ride over(we wanted to see the fireworks and show) IMHO I feel that they need more boats running, knowing the monorail isn't up to what it once was.
At the Tower,at least you have the option to walk....

It was more than a small accident, the cab/front of Monorail Coral was crushed by the tow tractor during the maintenance closure. It will be out of service for a while, which may make the open times even less convenient than normal.

FYI, they have been sending those letters for at least a year now.

We've been at BLT since Thanksgiving Day and have noticed no down times or experienced any troubles with the monorail.
