I am hoping someone pleaseeeeeeeeee can share their ideas on how to DISign.
What programs do you use,:confused3 I would love to get my hands into something like this, I love crafty things and I know my kids love when I make them stuff for their classmates.
Please if someone can LMK what programs you use to DISign i would greatly appreciate any input!
TIA
Danielle

I use Photoshop Elements. It is a very reasonably priced and versatile program.

there are many threads that already outline this!! I think if you search for Photoshop you will find them (will then include both Photoshop and Photoshop Elements posts)

Hi Danielle.......

I use PSE, Microsoft Digital Image Suite, GIMP, Photo Explosion among other to DISign. Learning how to use a desktop publishing/photo editing program is just the beginning. DISigning also involves building a composition, use of color theory, extraction skill along with a sense of style and often a sense of humor (among other things). Telling you the "secret" is equivilent to telling you how to write a good book, take a good photograph, etc. Just learn the basics of your software and let your imagination run wild!

and spelling and grammar please! sometimes posts on the forum are sorely lacking these!! :rotfl2:

Thank you and everyone for all the input I really do appreciate it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very greatful!!!

I use Photo-Impact, but wish I was good at Photoshop Elements as people seem to do so much with that. However, I do think Natalie hit it on the head. If you look around you will notice that many of the DISigners came up with a good idea, that no one else was doing and many people liked it. When I started (I don't DISign that much anymore) I did autograph cards (4x6) because most people weren't doing them. Now there are many to choose from. Plus l played around with what other people did, trying to emulate them. Many years ago, when the boards first started a DISign similar to this was posted.

It was a Christmas DISign, I believe by TripleFigs. I wanted to do the Home is where the Heart is, but couldn't figure out for the life of me how to make the picture looked rounded. Dom & Natalie helped me out and after a lot of messing around, I now have one for the DVC places I stay in. Since we are going to stay in BLT this summer, I will work on a BLT one over the next few months.

This was one of my very first DISigns, in fact I don't even have this program (PrintMaster) any longer, LOL

This was one I made because I liked Tink and I found a good background. It took a while to clean up, but I have used the background for autograph covers, t-shirts, tote bag DISigns, etc.

This one was hard for me as I had to learn how to clean up a jpg and gif it, then I had to find a good background and then I had to learn to Bevel and play with fonts. Natalie was helpful with that. another learning opportunity. :goodvibes

I am a pin trader and wanted to come up with a way of letting people know what my Holy Grails are. Dom did my Avatar :worship: But I was able to put together the rest. It took a while, but again, I learned "stuff".

This background started me on a whole grouping of "I am not ready to go home" shirts.

My nephew was coming home from Iraq, his favorite character is Stitch so I "borrowed" an idea from AmyMickey and came up with this.

Lastly, this thread (orignially started in 2005) http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2430262
has updated tips, suggestions and ideas.

So it boils down to asking people for help (there are many friendly people on this forum). & following the advice given you above. Thanks for helping me take a trip down memory lane. & reminding me that there are many great DISigners who have come and gone on this site. & thanks to the original, past & current DISigners that are listed in the the thread above. :goodvibes

awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :worship:
Thank you very much for all of your input!:woohoo:

I think it comes down to what you want to do. I personally stand by Photoshop cs5 extended because it is loaded with options that you won't find in Elements. But if you are just working with clipart or making scrapbook pages, any entry level program will work. As for designing, just go with what interests you and experiment with different styles. Everything i make here isn't my first choice of something i would make but it helps me learn to work with different techniques. Experiment and don't worry about if somebody else likes it, just do it for yourself.
