What's the scoop on adjoining rooms?

Hi! We've just decided to take a Dec trip to the world. It will be me, my husband, our 13 month old daughter, my parents, my sister and her boyfriend (6 adults + one baby).

I looked into the villas, but they are too expensive and not exactly what we're looking for. I think getting 3 separate rooms at a moderate would be best. But, we'd love an adjoining room to my parents, so we have a place to go when the baby goes down early for the night and can leave the door open between the 2 rooms to tend to her.

Are there adjoining rooms at the moderates? Are they hard to get?

What about at the monorail resorts? If money weren't an issue, that would be my choice since we'll be traveling with a young child. Any place in particular to look for discounts there and do they have adjoining rooms?

Thanks in advance for any tips or advice! We can't wait to experience the world with our daughter!

I've had adjoining rooms at AKL, POFQ and BC with no problem. Simply made the request with my reservation.

nearly every Disney resort offers adjoinning or connecting rooms...both at the moderate level...and deluxe....
connecting rooms are not difficult to get...but there are a few things you should mark down on your reservation....as well as mention at check in...
1) book all 3 rooms together...under one name...this allows the resort to have a heads up...and not place 2 rooms in one setion...and one in the other...
2) Be sure to ask in check in that you would like to be close to the rest of your party...as well as any resort locations you would like to be near....
We traveled down with another family to the CBR last year...and in check in requested a room close to them and close to the food court....we were placed in adjoining rooms in the Jamaica village...it was just fantastic...

The monorail resorts do have adjoining rooms...I would say check mousesavers.com and disneyworld.com reqularly to keep up on the newest packages....

another thing you could maybe consider...is a jr suite...they offer them at the WL which has boat access to the MK...it allows for a seperate living area...as well as bedroom with 2 queen size beds...your parents could bunk on the pull out...or even in the same rooms as you...

hope I was of some help...

EXCELLENT advice! Thanks to you both for such speedy replies. I'm off to check Mousesavers.com!

Adjoining means beside each other and connecting means they have doors in between them. So do not mix the words up.

But, we'd love an adjoining room to my parents, so we have a place to go when the baby goes down early for the night and can leave the door open between the 2 rooms to tend to her.

As Cris said, you want to request connecting not adjoining. Adjoining just means next to each other, not necessarily with a connecting door.

We had no problem getting connecting rooms at POFQ during our last stay there. It worked out really well, we put our 3yr. old DD to bed, then hung out in my mothers connecting room. Using a code from mousesavers.com we only paid $95 a night (including tax). For us this was much more affordable than a villa.
Enjoy your trip!

We have never had a problem getting connecting (or adjoining) rooms at POR.

As has been stated make sure you are clear when making the reservation that you would like two connecting rooms.

The last time we needed three rooms, we asked for two connecting and then asked that the third room be on the same floor or in the same area. We were placed in three rooms right next to each other with two of the rooms connecting. I think if stay a little flexible on the third room it gives them some wiggle room for two connecting rooms.

If you are going in early December you shouldn't have any problems with this request because it tends to be down time.
