What's the purpose of a concert presale...

I am trying to get 3 Jason Mraz tickets. The concert is at University of Delaware and the tickets went on presale today at 10:00. I have been trying since 10:30 and it keeps telling me there are not enough tickets to fulfil my request but to keep trying. Tickets aren't sold to the general public until Sept. 10. Does anyone know how long the presale will last? They aren't available on ticketmaster.

I haven't bought concert tickets in a very long time, so I guess this is all new to me.

Any advice on how to obtain 3 tickets? (and they are already on ebay).

I'm not sure I can give you advice, but here is what we did for the Elton John/Billy Joel concert (I'm old!) The 1st show sold out in 20 minutes! When the tickets went on sale for the 2nd show We logged into the ticket site before the sale start...which was like 10am. The minute the clock hit 10 we hit "buy tickets." We did it on 3 (yes 3!) different computers, the desk top and both lap tops. We managed to be able to buy 2 tickets.

They will be expensive.

I work at an arena and deal with the ticketmaster system, so I'm pretty knowledgable on this. As far as pre-sales go, don't be too discouraged if you can't get anything. Typically on a concert presale, they only hold a certain number of seats (like every third row in the first few sections, etc) and often don't have many to sell. It doesn't necessarily mean that you won't get seats. Keep checking, because any time anyone gets on and does a search, it throws those seats into limbo and they appear to be gone, but might pop up again for sale in 5 minutes or so.

If you can't get them during presale, I'd suggest having someone call Ticketmaster as soon as they go on sale, as well as having someone on the internet to maximize your chances. Also check with the venue, they often open at the same time for on-sales. So having one person at the venue while on the phone, and one on the website definitely helps.

Good luck! I'd love to see Jason Mraz too. He hasn't made it our way yet, but I'll definitely be going when he does.

(btw, I'd avoid Stubhub if possible. They are insanely expensive! Plus if for some reason you have issues receiving the tickets, the venue won't be able to help you if you went through Stubhub. Just a FYI)

I go to TONS of concerts. If you can't get any, wait until the day before the concert and keep checking. THis is when the promoters release the unused tix that they did not give away. Usually, premium seats also. Just keep trying until the day of the show. My kid wants to go to Green day....only lawn left. I plan on being right up front by using this method. It has worked over and over for me.

He does sell out but never right away in the first hour so you will get tickets, you may just have to get them on release day.

He puts on an absolutely amazing show. I wish he were coming back to me again. So good!

No, I wasn't able to get them. I gave up at 3:30 and took a nap. I am back to trying but it still keeps telling me

"At this moment there are not enough tickets available to fulfill your request. Please try again using a lower quantity of tickets or choosing a different ticket type.
Currently there are not enough Reserved Floor tickets to fulfill your request."

It doesn't matter the number of tickets I request, I still get the same message.

I wish he would come to Virginia. He is after all from the Richmond area.
