What's the point of on-line check-in?

Just curious. You'd think I was a newbie here and this was the first time we are going to DW, but we've been going every year the last 10 years and I have never done on-line checking. I'm just not really sure what the difference is because we will still need to wait on line to get our room key and park tickets, no? :/

Yes, you will still stand in line. But the lines moves fast because everyone's folders are already put together with all the "stuff" in it. The CM just pulls your folder out of the drawer and shows you your room assignment and off you go. Now of you really want to try and negotiate a specific room, don't do online. Other than that I think it saves time for people like me that book the room type I want and then take what they give me.

As noted, in theory it speeds up checkin somewhat, and in future, it is supposed to be tied in to the fastpass plus (ie, cannot make the pre-trip ride/show fastpass reservations until checked in-hence the 60 day window), but it is unclear if that is still going to be true (and during testing phase, it has been even more unclear)

If you're arriving at a busy time (I have no idea how you know that) or happen to be checking in at the same time as a big group (again, not something you know ahead of time) then it can be helpful.

Both have happened to me.

But I've also NOT done online check in a bunch of times without waiting in line, so...who knows really!!

Those Disney computers can be awfully slow sometimes.
