What's the point of a dummy date?

Now this is my experience with rebooking onboard.

The rebooking desk is on deck 4, right above Guest Services. On our 1st cruise, I was going to the shopping desk (which is the desk right next to the rebooking desk) and she was busy with another person. Well the rebooking lady had no one so I sat down just to chat with her until I could talk to the shopping lady. The rebooking lady's name is Autumn (which I remember because that is my DD21 name) SOOOOOOO NICE!!!!!

I told her that I was going to rebook but wanted to wait until my second cruise to get all of the Silver member perks. She said "It doesn't matter when you book for the perks, only when you sail." Then I said, "Welp then, it looks like you have a customer!!"

So I told her that we really couldn't sail again until 2013 and that I wasn't sure on the dates. We may go in Sept that year instead of May. I told her that I wanted to book a 3 nighter and a 4 nighter to do a B2B again. I also told her that I didn't want to spend all my spending money on the deposits so to PLEASE make it the cheapest as possible. So this is what she did!!!

She said "I will book you for Dec of 2012, since that is the furthest away for now and one of the cheapest months to sail. I will also only book your DH and yourself (which is cheaper than booking one person, per Autumn) and you can add the kids on later, but don't wait until the last mintue to add them on as there might not be room for them. (Which I understood because we did it that way for this cruise, my TA added the kids on later after we booked) I will also put you in the lowest Cat (11 something, I think) to get the lowest price." So I walked away from her desk paying $198 deposit for 2 cruises. As we pay these cruises off I will have my TA add the kids on and get us into a Cat 6B.

She said that all of this info would be emailed to me and to my TA. Now I did talk to Autumn about DH and I wanting to do a 7 nighter B2B when the kids are older and told her that we were waiting to get to Platinum to get all of the perks. (We would need that higher OBC after paying for that bad boy!!) What she said brought tears to my eyes. "You can book that now and move it for years, you would get the perks of a Platinum member if you are a Platinum member at sailing!! Everything with the cruises happens when you sail, NOT when you book!!!"

Well needless to say that I was not finacially prepared to book those two 7 nighters at that time but believe me, THEY WILL BE BOOKED ON OUR NEXT CRUISES!!!!!

I did not know that!

So, this is our 5th cruise. When we book our next one, it will be #6 - so we can book it at the Gold level?

The OBC value is based on the tier you're in at the time of the future cruise, not the tier you're in at time of booking. So if you're silver now and book cruises 6 & 7 while still silver, they will both get Gold level perks.
OBCs I listed in pp are for 7 nt cruises. 3-6 nt cruises are $100 silver, $150 gold, and $250 platinum.

:cool1:

I'm on a mission to Platinum. My own little happy planet. :lmao:

Thanks!!!

I LOVE these boards! You learn SO MUCH!!

You can also book onboard on behalf of others not currently sailing with you and they get onboard perks as if they were there booking with you. I have done this several times for friends & family. :goodvibes

So using this method, can I make a new friend on here who will be cruising soon and have them book my April 2012 cruise while they're on the ship to get me 10% off?

They make the res in my name, pay the deposit for me, I pay them back?

I don't know if I'll ever make it to Platinum, but I will make it to Gold in 2012 or (more likely) 2013. :)

You have to be sailing together on the future cruise and have reservations linked.:goodvibes
