What's the oldest age you've used a stroller?

This topic comes up all the time. It depends on the height and weight of the kid and the parent's desire to push a stroller. My kids are tiny and so am I.

Wow, you are tiny to wear the same 3T (t as in toddler) undies. I thought Nic was just small for her age. Turns out that she is just on the smallish size for an adult.
Yep. I know what t stands for. And my kids could wear certain clothes in toddler sizes until high school and fit in a stroller. But that doesn't mean that they did.

Just got back a few days ago and had a jogging stroller for my almost 7 year old daughter ... it was one that holds up to 65 pounds. In January, I rented a Disney double for my 9 and 6 year old ... I go by myself, without my husband, and it gives me peace of mind to put them both in the stroller and maneuver through crowds. I find them easy to push so it doesn't bother me and its nice to have a place to put our stuff. They are both capable of walking, but its a lot of walking and its exhausting ... even with breaks, everyone is happier this way ... its what works for our family. There are tons of kids in strollers at Disney, all shapes and sizes, so decide what will make you and your family happy and go with that :-)

We rented a double stroller last time for DS, who was 7 at the time and DD, who was 4.
I am going back in January (yay!) with the kids and my mother (not DH this time) and honestly don't think I could handle a big double stroller on my own. My DH did most of the folding and opening and getting the big thing onto crowded busses, etc.
The kids will have to be okay with the walking! I figure that, in January, without the heat and crowds, walking will be easier. Plus, the parks aren't open too late anyways, so the chances of doing a 12 hour day are nil!

DD was 4 the last time we took a stroller and most of the time she wasn't in it, only at night if we stayed out late would she really use the stroller.

My DH and I can't remember if our daughter was 3 or 4 yrs old when she last used a stroller, but it was one or the other. She is 12 now. Our now DS18 was 5. I think what surprises me is the number of people who love using their stroller. We did a happy dance down Main Street our first trip stroller free. We loved not having to look for stroller parking or search for our stroller after a ride or show. I hated having to fold and hold onto the stroller for the bus ride. I understand others enjoy the storage but we saw it as breaking the chains that tied us down. I always saw our stroller as an inconvienence.

No one really WANTS to walk around Disney every day. Heck, I'm 40 and would love to have someone push me around. However, that would be ridiculous. I think, honestly, a 10 year old is just too old for a stroller.

We used a stroller up until 6, which at that point it was parked way more than used. This year, at 7, didn't use one and my DS was fine. No complaints of fatigue or sore feet and I found it so much easier to tour without one.

The last time we brought an umbrella stroller was when my ds was 6. I thought he might get tired and it would be nice to leave bags on. What I discovered was ds wasn't getting tired and wanted to go,go, go. We on the other hand were getting very tired. The rest of the trip, the stroller stayed in the room. We needed to wear out that little boy, so we were all ready to quit at the same time.

DD1 would still happily ride at 4 at which point we stopped.

DD2 wanted OUT! She was probably 2 1/2 last time she sat in a stroller.

I want to say my son was 8 the last time we used one, though my memory is a little sketchy. It is possible that we got one for him when he was 9 as well. No doubt, at 10 he was walking on his own at Disney.

We brought one last year when our daughter was 5 1/2 and plan to bring it again in December (6 1/2). It's more a precautionary step in case she gets tired. She did an entire day at Hershey in the summer with no stroller so that was encouraging but 1 day there isn't the same as 5 days at WDW. I'm not sure what age I'd say is too old, but I don't think we're there yet.

Last year my kids were 7 & 10 and after the 1st day of the kids whining that they were tired, I rented a double stroller for the rest of the trip - it made a world of difference....it was our 1st trip and we wanted to go, go, go and knew the kids would tire out way before DH & I. We did 5X more than we could have without it and it was a great trip. The kids loved sitting in the stroller and we never heard a complaint!

We are going back, kids are now 8 & 11....what's the oldest age your kid was in a disney stroller?

I don't think I need it for AK or DHS, but there is so much walking in Epcot and so much ground to cover in MK it would help....

I haven't read the whole thread--just too many posts and I'm sure I know the general gist of most of them. But I'm really hoping this is a joke! You're seriously considering pushing your 11-year-old around in a stroller? Seriously????? I can't imagine in what universe that is even a consideration! Even 8 is beyond my comprehension but I know a lot of people still do it.

My boys were 5 and 7 on our first trip and we've never used a stroller. Never even occurred to us.

Here's a novel idea--if they get tired, rest! Take a break. Slow down. Enjoy just being together. Have fun in the moment instead of rushing to the next thing.

If a healthy 11-year-old can't walk around the parks unaided, there's something very wrong. I'm assuming that's 5th grade, right? A 5th grader in a stroller--I'm sure their classmates would get a kick out of those pictures!

mine is six, and just at Disney I would still get one. It is such a big place and she does get tired, it's also nice to have somewhere to stash our stuff.

Our son was 6 and daughter was 5 the last time we used strollers in a park.

I really, really think one of the writers for the movie Wall-E reads this board.

But laziness wasn't why they were on hover-rounds. Gravity and being in space for hundreds of years was. Their bones were melting.

My DS is 4 and I tried to convince DW that he does not need one and will want to walk anyway. She won me over by this statement "It's not that he needs one or that I don't want to take breaks or that he'll get tired, it's that he will get trampled by people there & probably multiple times per day and they won't even stop or apologize they'll just keep going on their way". Sadly she is dead right with that one.

FWIW my son was only run into once. By a kid about his current age, in a water play area. Never by adults.

I think we each should decide for our own families and not waste time judging other families for their choices.

When the op asks the question, though, opinions and info and experience are allowed.

I'm assuming that's 5th grade, right? A 5th grader in a stroller--I'm sure their classmates would get a kick out of those pictures!

We homeschool but by birthdate my 11 year old would be 6th grade. If he decided to go to school that's where they would put him. :)

I can see some of the similar-age, small, girls he dances with thinking it's funny to be in a stroller (most of his friends have much younger sibs) but he wouldn't feel that way about himself. He's 5'2"ish and 107 lbs, I'm not pushing him in a stroller lol.

Actually that last trip with a stroller he was so lanky he didn't really fit in the maclaren volo anyway. He had to scrunch and crunch in. And that was at a late 5 yo.

Thanks to this thread we sat down and had a conversation about this as a family. We decided to ditch the stroller rental for the entire trip and maybe just grab one at Epcot if DD5 needs it. I'm kind of relieved to not have to deal with the dang thing :) So thanks!
