What would be the most expensive thing you've bought your pet?

Aside from crates, medicine & the like. I mean like collar, chew toy, super-deluxe bed, what's yours?

Ours is a coach collar we bought for lady. NOT cheap! LOL

got Jasmine our dalmatian another big stuffed animal........you know the ones that are 40 dollars......she took the nose of Pooh Bear the minute she found it......she got besides pooh.....a big Mickey mouse.....a tigger, a simba .......she was our baby and we felt guilty leaving her at the fat farm when we went to disney....so she got the best

An OPERATION!! I had a cat who loved to eat thread/string, anything like that! She managed to ingest a large quantity of thread, with the rest of it still attached to the spool hanging out of her mouth. Had to have it surgically removed! As if that isn't bad enough, she had done it before, but the Vet was able to pull it up through her throat that time! And YES.... I was very careful about putting away my sewing supplies.... she would actually climb up and eat it off my sewing machine!.................P

I got my dog a bed this christmas. It's become very useful. The girls on the sleepovers love it.

The kitties are very cheap. If we don't count their neutering operations and initial shots and whatnot, their most expensive thing is their crate. Yep, a doggie crate, with a piece of plywood cut to give them two levels. They love that thing. Makes for quiet car rides!

An Invisable Fence so she can enjoy her freedom. Gastric Torsion Surgery so she could live. :)

Medicine and operations aside the most expensive thing I've spent on my kitties is their food! Keeping 4 cats on Iams is NOT a cheap thing!! I've been lucky enough to find them occasionally at Dollar Tree so they are happy!

A Coach collar? You sure now how to treat a Lady right!

Probably the dog bed that I thought he would like, but never went near! Why sleep on a dog bed when you can sleep with the humans?

Like Serena, the kids use it to lay on!

A minivan.

When I adopted my 2 labs, I was driving a little 2 door thingie. It became apparent pretty quickly that we would need something a bit roomier!

me too!!! LOLOL I thought I was the only nut! I used to have a pickup with a stickshift. I had to trade it in for a minivan. Two Dobies in the cab wanting to lay down for a snooze was not working!
As soon as I got the van home, both benches were removed to make room for crates! No one has ever sat on the benches!!
Now,that's love!

A life in my home. That dang dog was $1500 including his flight to me, everything since has been much less.

His shots and heartworm pills have been our biggest expense so far.

I've also gone for cash on crate pillows and rugs. He keeps ruining whatever pillow or throw we put in his cage. We crate him only we're out, and I guess he gets mad, so he'll tear up whatever is in there. I bought him two nice dog pillows already that he destroyed, so right now my old bath mat is in there.

When he shreds that, I'll buy new bed pillows for the family and use our old ones.

A minivan.

I was ROFL at this one. My mom had the minivan already though. My sister's lab thinks the front seat is his. If you're in it, you have a lab on your lap. I speak from experience. :teeth:

The most expensive thing we've done for our cat has been dental cleanings. He used to be on wet food until some meanie (that would be me) decided it was silly to pay $200+ every year for dental work, not to mention how bad it is for their teeth. Plus, he liked to get fed at an ungodly hour of the morning, between 4am and 5am. Some sucker (that would be my SO) would give in and feed him.

Without a doubt, medical care. Too bad the dog and cats aren't covered as dependents under my medical insurance.

Excluding medical care, the most expensive thing we've bought for our pets is a 75-gallon aquarium and associated equipment. . .for 2 feeder goldfish! They are huge now though and so cool.

A station wagon. I've got a basset hound who can't jump so high. So when I went car shopping, I took a measuring stick with me. I really wanted an SUV but no way my boy could make the jump - so I got him the station wagon. (I've got a dog ramp I spent $120 for sitting at home - he's afraid to use it...) He's got the back seat all to himself - he even has a doggie seat belt.

I thought I was excessive until my SIL got a pomeranian. She uses her dog as an accessory. She buys her dog costumes and dresses her like a doll - she's got a camoflauge outfit and a silk chinese dress. Her dog has a pink four poster bed with velvet cushions. She also has a red Coach collar (the one with the heart tag) - had to punch additional holes in it because the smallest size was too big. Most recently, she spent $500 on a made-to-order doggie carrier/purse.

My SIL & her DH bought a house for their Bassett. She had to have back surgery and couldn't climb the stairs so they moved to a 1 story home. My BIL complains that his falling on the stairs wasn't enough to convince SIL that it was time for a new house but the dog having problems was ;) .

Our vet bills are the most expensive things lots of toys but nothing that has cost much.

I spent $1500 on vet bills when my oldest cat got hit by a car...does that count?:p

She had a torn ligament in one of her back legs and a hernia...I had to take her to a specialist to have the surgery. $$$$$$$$$$$$$

She was 15 months when this happened and will be 12 yrs this year...can't imagine my life without her and she's totally fine today. :)
