You can book as late as you like, I once rang TCD and flew next day. Had a quick look now, no availabilty for Tomorrow but you can book for Friday.

Prices change all the time. I have not booked a package for 4 years now, far too expensive for me, this next trip is costing £4,500 DIY, VH want £10,445, TCD £9,455.
You have to look as soon as they are released upto 18 months in advance and just keep watching for deals until you are happy with the price.

i found one on travel city direct for me and a m8 for 1182.45 and thats with a flexipass + and travel ins for 8 days pretty good i think

I don't do packages either but we have booked only a couple of weeks in advance too. We did DIY got flights, good discount on hotel through Disney US and off we went :thumbsup2

I have booked a few months before. It was a DIY booking, flights with VH and room with disney.usa using an AP.

If you post details: dates, airport & hotel myself or others will let you know if there are any better deals.

We first went to WDW as a package booked via Virgin Holidays. But the primary reason was the trip was being funded entirely by Tesco club card deals.

Last year booked DIY stayed off-site at a hotel in Lake Buena Vista area and Universal resort hotel.
This year booked Disney with free dining ourselves, along with flights and a week long stay at Universal hotel.

As others state it is worth doing the maths to see how package versus DIY stack up.
If you need a confidence boost or any help with trip planning this board is the perfect place to ask for help :goodvibes

blimey travel city direct has gone up over 100 overnight! Im pretty flexible tbh I want to stay somewere thats about 3 stars, close to UO, IOA, SW, WNW obviously BGT is gonna be abit of a drive where ever i am. So I was looking at somewere on I Drive. The quote i got was for va from gatwick (though any london, bristol would be good but they seem expensive and only use the rubish airlines). Flying 27/10/12 returning from MCO on the 4/11/12, staying at Rosen inn (staying onsite at UO would be nice but to expensive :( ) Double room (2 double beds) and economy car. Oh and its for 2 adults and direct flights.

Cheers
Rudi

It's the direct flights thats the killer.
Crazy prices for those dates, you are paying about £907pp for the flights.
8 nights Hotel anything from about £150 (Rosen about £240)
8 nights car hire approx £110
2 x Flex plus tickets £394

Add all that up and you are around the price of a package with TCD, it is a fair price for a package I just couldn't pay £907 for an economy flight

Same dates indirect £535pp (£1070 for 2)

hmm now youve said that i might look into indirect i dont id just got it into my head i wanted to go direct lol

kayak for flights

If you are flexible on dates go a bit later.

Half term is late this year - alot of schools off 26th October to 5th November and people with kids tag a week or so on either way.

For hotels - rosen inn on I drive is great for the money. If you post your dates once you have a flight Wayne is usually the man to find the best deal.

Indirect is alot cheaper usually and not necessarily that much longer as you clear immigration at the first place you land.

27/10/12 - 4/11/12 isnt flexible thats factory shut down week for me and the last of my holiday got to use the rest for when my son comes over this year hopefully otherwise id do 14 days

If you are stuck to those dates I'd definitely look at indirect.

This will be our third October half term - virgin prices stayed high as they know they will sell the seats. Alot of first timers and people with young kids will only travel direct.

Kayak.co.uk
Travelsupermarket.com
jetcost.co.uk

All good places to start but its just a matter of searching as many sites as you can find until you find a price you are happy with.
