Thanks for the responses. Just to make sure I have this correct.....
I am wanting to make sure I get my full 50 years worth of points. So, if I bought a Feb UY, for example, I would get points in Feb 2010, Feb 2011, Feb 2012, all the way until Feb 2060. Whereas if someone bought a Nov UY, they would get point in Nov 2009, Nov 2010, etc., until Nov 2059. Right? The reason I'm asking is that DH and I looked at AKV when it first opened, but decided we didn't want to purchase without looking into it more. When we went back a couple of years later and looked again, the points were roughly the same price, but we had lost 2 years worth of points by waiting. I want to make sure I don't lose out on a year or two worth of points because I'm dragging my feet.
That's a good point, too, about buying before the 7-month mark. I guess if we don't get to buy before then (which would be this Nov - wow that's soon!) then we could look at other
DVC resorts. But it's definitely more incentive to try to save up faster and make the purchase sooner rather than later.
I wish DH and I could decide to buy now and just finance short-term. But, we recently remodeled part of our house and are paying that off. That's our only debt, and we should have it paid off by the end of the year. It's hard to decide if we want to take anything on after we get that paid off. Decisions, decisions!
