What's the going rate from the tooth fairy?

Years ago, long before children, I worked at a bank. A client always asked if we had any Eisenhower dollar coins for the Tooth Fairy to give to her kids. When DS was born, I started collecting them. We have enough now for both kids. The Eisenhower dollar gets put away with other collectable coins and DH gives them $1 to spend. They think this is the coolest thing: none of their friends get the big coins.

DD had a loose tooth during our trip to WDW this summer. She didn't loose it but I was prepared with a coin & a Disney Dollar.

Also, the tooth always goes in a sealed envelope. DS told me that the Tooth Fairy somehow changed the tooth into a dollar coin! How else could it be in the same exact envelope?:confused3 All I wanted was something easy to slide...

When the dollar coins were silver colored the very tired tooth fairy accidentally left a subway token......."Why would the tooth fairy take the subway? She can fly." ..."her wings were tired." :rotfl2:

Wow! We have a cheap-skate tooth fairy that visits our house. She leaves $1. And the first tooth didn't garner any additional compensation than the subsequent tooth.

Our tooth fairy leaves a dollar too! DS6 has lost 2 teeth so far, and got $1.00 for each one. He was very excited for the dollar!! I couldn't imagine how happy he would be for $5.00!!

We do $5 per tooth, but it's from Mom and Dad, not the tooth fairy. No TF at our house.

At our house it was $20 for the first tooth and $5 for every tooth thereafter. We initially had the issue of ds not wiggling his loose teeth and the new teeth were coming in crooked behind the baby teeth. Now that he knows he gets to spend his money on trains, he is currently working hard at wiggling his 5th loose tooth.

DS also lost his first tooth when dh was out of town, so the tooth fairy left him a lovely note saying she was letting him keep the tooth so he could show his dad. He quite liked that. (I take that back, he swallowed the first one, it was the second one the TF let him keep).

And then at the third or fourth missing tooth, dd just had to *sleep* in his room that night. Her plan was to stay up all night so she could see the tooth fairy. It backfired ... she fell asleep.

It's official, I'm the worst dad on earth. Our tooth fairy only pays whatever change dad has in his pocket on the way to bed. They haven't learned counting money yet, so 10 pennies is WAY better than one $5 bill. I'm going to burn in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks.;)

Our tooth fairy leaves special money. 1st tooth is a 2.00 bill...future teeth are the 1.00 coins. Our DD loves that it is money that isn't "normal" as she put it. :)

5.00 for the first and supposed to be 2.00 for the subsequent, but we too had a night we only had a 5 so she got a little surpise!

I found a really cute "tooth pillow" on Ebay that is pink with a tooth fairy on it with a little pocket you put the tooth in. Very cute!

My DD6 lost her first tooth at WDW last year. So the tooth fairy left her $5. We were checking out the next day. While DH had the kids occupied at Ohana breakfast, I got the bags packed and bell services to check out. I was short on cash, you may see what is naturally going to happen..... yep, had to use the tooth fairy money to tip bell services. Oh yeah, I am totally going to hell for this one. :lmao:

My 6-year-old daughter actually just lost her 3rd tooth last night! She pulled it out herself!

Anyway, when she lost her 1st tooth, Dad was out to sea and I was totally unprepared moneywise. I didn't have any dollar bills, so I put 4 quarters in her little tooth fairy pillow. For the next tooth, I put five and last night, I put 6 quarters. She loved it! She thought it was so cool that the number of quarters increased each time!

The pocket on the pillow is so small that I don't know how much longer I can keep increasing the quarters! We'll have to go to Plan B, whatever that is!!

Tooth Fairy leaves a toy or gift card here - around $20 -$25. DD is our 1 and only child.
