I've seen a few posts where DVC members are buying points from other DVC members but wanted to know what is the going rate that that a point sells for?

Are you talking about buying or renting. The sale of points involves a member selling his entire real estate interest and buyer becomes the new member. You can see asking prices for those kinds of sales at www.dvc-resales.com and www.atimeshare.com which broker resales. Actual sale prices are generally not published but you can guess they should be somewhat lower than asking price and likely are now mostly in the $62 per point and higher range.

Renting is where a member rents points to another just for one trip. There is a DVC Rent/Trade board on this site. Going rate varies although usually in the $10 per point range

Posts that offer to rent points (for one trip/reservation) seem to ask between $7 and $13 per point. The lower range is usually for "distressed" points - those that will expire soon. The higher range is for points that are used to make reservations 10- 11 months ahead of time.

Keep in mind that points are of no value unless a reservation can be made using them. Thus, even though there may be points offered for the lower price, there may not be rooms available during the time the points are valid.

Most points appear to be rented for an average of $10/point and are used to make reservations for weeknight stays because the point requirements for weekends are substantially higher. Disney's cash prices for weekend nights (Friday & Saturday) are usually a better value than renting a reservation from a DVC member. JMHO. YMMV.
