What's the deal with Krispy Kremes?

I hear so much talk about them on these boards. Can you get them only at a few select places? Or do they have them at most breakfast restaurant? If anybody knows, we're staying at WL in 3 days, can i get them there?

Krispy Kreme is a chain donut store sort of like Dunkin Donuts -- but once you have gone to a Krispy Kreme you may never return to Dunkin Donuts. They are basically donuts that practically melt in your mouth and have become hugely popular where available. Though I may be wrong, my understanding is that they are not availalbe at WDW which causes some of its fanatics to desperately go looking for the nearest shop.

wouldn't a stand on the Boardwalk be nice! Ah, steaming hot donuts first thing in the morning......

I live in Ohio, but the closest Krispy Kreme is about a half hour away.
We don't get them often...but they do melt in your mouth!
We like to stop when the sign is lit....means they are fresh out of the fryer!

They are wonderful--They do melt in your mouth!!

My favorite one-- For a while they had a chocolate chip donut, it was incredibly good!!! It tasted just like unbaked cookie dough!

Where I live, not only do we have a couple of the actual donut shops, but you can get them in Albertson's grocery stores and in the Super Targets. They are fabulous. The Super Targets have Krispy Kremes and Starbucks--the only way to top that would be to have both at WDW!

Yes, they sell Krispy Kremes at Tubbi's in the Dolphin.

Do they make them at Tubbi's or are they delivered by truck? The real attraction of Krispy Kremes vs other donuts is that you can get them fresh and warm. The ones they deliver to gas stations and the like just are not as high a quality in our opinion.

The walk up counter service at Courtyard Marriott at Lake Buena Vista also has them. YUMMY!

If you pop the donuts in the microwave for about 10 to 15 seconds, they taste fresh made. They just melt in your mouth.

I find it funny that people think these are new wonderful creations. We had stores near us since I was a little girl. No big deal here!

No biggie in Raleigh either-- this is Krispy Kreme's home town!

But they've recently expanded to other areas of the country and to them it's a big deal. Remember the fuss at the Olympics?

I agree that the ones in the store aren't as good, and that would translate that the ones at WDW aren't as good either, microwave or no microwave. They're stale by that point. For me, it's either straight out of the frier or not at all!

The ones in the grocery stores have preservatives to give them a long shelf life. They are not "real" Krispy Kremes. Some of the WDW character breakfasts have KKs -- we ate them at Cape May Cafe.

We stayed at the WL on our last trip and I don't remember seeing them. We stayed on the concierge level and I don't remember them. I know that when we went to Mickey's breakfast at the contemporary they had them at the buffet line. We had them when we stayed at the Poly conc.

I had posted this question a few weeks back and someone answer that KK's are available at the Roaring Forks counter. I have never had one and everyone raves about them. We leave in 21 days!!!!! I would like to know if they are a cake or glazed(airy) doughnut??
