What's the deal with Krispy Kremes?

Just for a different perspective -

Ugh! Gross! Not to my liking at all. Taste like cotton candy - far too sweet.....and I have a major sweet tooth.

But many people seem to think they are heavenly - different strokes....

KK donuts are best fresh out of the oven. The KK stores have a neon sign in the front window that they turn on when the donuts are fresh.

I don't know if they have them at WL, but they are available at The Mara at AKL - you have to get there early though. The first time I had them was at Mara, and I fell in love. Just recently on a trip to Illinois I had some right off the line. I agree they are better fresh after frying, but they are still good if you get them in a restaurant. They are delivered there, not made on site.

Not to make any one jealous but I live where Krispy Kreme got started--here in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. And believe me when the "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign is out, the parking lot and drive through window is bumper to bumper. I grew up eating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and have watched them being made at one of the stores here. They are delicious. Glad to know where I can find them while on our trip NEXT WEEK.

Krispy Kremes have been 'round here since before I was born, also.

The local schools/athletic teams actually sell them for fundraisers!

We've got a restaurant here in Tampa that has mostly "Southern" food on its menu. They offer a dessert that involves two Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts - HEATED - then topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, and nuts.

You guys need to try this at home - it was AWESOME!!

I live 29 blocks away from a Krispy Kreme. We sell them at the Publix I work at, and when we receive them, they are NOT HOT! It is best to experience them at the shop in person.

Truly, if you want my opinion... after you have a few Krispy Kremes
they are really way toooo sweet and they will give you a stomach ache..I like Dunkin' Donuts..

I can almost SEE that red neon sign from here. YUM! Has anyone else noticed that for the past year or so the donuts are bigger and " more doughy" than before? Or maybe it's that just in my old age I can't eat as many as I could when I was young!

Hmmm.... wonder if I can convince DH now to make a Hot Donut run? LOL
