What's the consensus for on-line check-in?

During online check-in, can you designate to have only one room key WITH charging privileges and the rest of the room keys withOUT or do all the keys have to be the same? Just wondering how detailed the check-in process is online. Thanks.

We check into BLT on Sunday and tonight (3days away) our online check-in bar showed up. No resquests were available for us.

Wow. Their IT system is really, really bad. Honestly, I know college kids who write cleaner code.

Anyway, here's my update. Just finished the checkin online for BLT arriving 8/23. I also was not offered any suggested requests with radio boxes, as in the example the PP gave a screenshot of for VWL.

There was a section called "Confirm or add special requests." and under it there was only one big white box, which said "Room Requests: Enter Room Request." I clicked on it out of curiosity (don't have a specific room to request), and it opened a new window, in which it read "Add up to 2 room requests. Though we try to honor all requests, we cannot guarantee them, unless otherwise indicated below." BUT there was no where to enter information! Crazy.

So, we're all checked in at least. Will report back on out experiences.

I called member services about these matters. You can register a credit card number with online check-in; but, if you have Disney Gift Cards that you want to transfer to the KTTW card, that has to be done at check-in. Also, You have to pay for the Dining Plan at Check-in, then they will issue you your KTTW cards with the dining option on them. They will not do that before you pay for the plan. Again, this is what one person from member services told me. Not sure if i'd get a different answer from a different person from member services.

I did online check in for my vacation that was just completed. We were doing 3 resorts and did it for all of them. I entered my CC #, and was also on the dining plan.

I didn't realize that this would cause the plan to be charged to the card prior to my picking up my materials (as I was planning to pay with my rewards card).

When I checked in at the first resort, BWV, they had used the CC. I asked to have it switched and they did, without any problems. She did tell me it could take up to two billing cycles to show up on my CC as a refund, but I checked today (got home yesterday) and it was already there.

To ensure it didn't happen at the other two check ins, the CM at BWV added a note into those reservations not to charge the CC but that I would pay when I checked in. When I got to BLT and to VWL, I just paid with the rewards card.

I was told that if you don't want the DDP charged to the credit card, then just don't enter it during online check in.

But, our check in was easy and quick. Our room was ready at BWV at 12:00 pm when we checked in, and at BLT @ 7:30 am when we checked in. It wasn't ready when we checked in at 8:00 am at VWL, but they sent us a text at 1:30 pm that is was so we were really happy that we got into our rooms at all 3 places prior to the official "after 4:00 pm" check in time!!

I'm on a boring concall now, so I decided to step through the online check-in process and do some screen captures. I do believe that each resort will give you a different set of options to choose from, but I don't know for sure.

Note that I use Firefox as my web browser, so I don't know if the format is as bad in IE or not.

Log into dvcmember.com website and go to your Vacation Details. You should see an Enter/edit check-in information button. Click on that

You'll see Tinker Bell flying around a bit She pops up everytime you go to the next screen.

The next screen is pre-populated with your reservation information. Select Continue

The next page shows all of your current reservation information. Select Begin Check-In Now button

You'll see your reservation details. This is the place that you can make requests, if any are available. Select Add a Room Request button if it's there. Looks like you can also change your credit card info here too, but never tried that.

If you are able to select the request button, you'll see what sort of requests you are able to make. For my VWL trip I only had "Close to Transportation". I've heard that people have seen other things to select, such as first floor. Make your selection and then OK. Select Submit after that (missed the screen capture for that one)

You'll see all of your information again, hopefully with your request. You can print your reservation information. You'll also get an email with all the information. Select Continue when you're done.

You end up back on the dvcmember.com website.

We have used it twice now and it has been great, walked right up to the counter, got handed our folder and we moved right along

To me the biggest benefit going is the airline check in at the resort. We just got back from a 10 day trip with 8 people. Not having to drag all that luggage to the airport was GREAT!

If you are staying on points and want to use the internet, do you have to place a credit card on file even though it is free? The last time we stayed, that was the case. Just wondered if that is still the case since I don't want to have charging privileges for all in my party and it looks like it's an all or none situation when going thru the online method of check-in regarding room keys and charging privileges. Thanks for any help you can give.
