What's the check-in process like?

What can I expect at Poly check-in? How long does it usually take? What do they ask you/give you? (We are arriving at MCO at 2:30p on a Sunday, so I expect we'll be at the hotel around 3:30p, assuming an on-time flight arrival and pickup by Cartier.)

My parents will be able to watch my DS4 in the lobby area, which I understand has videos for the kiddos. Also, is anyone aware if the Neverland Club will be offering the "open house"--that would be a great way to entertain the little guy!

Thanks!

Kimberly

Hi Ya'll, oh I wish I was there in texas with you right now, I miss desoto, colters, etc. etc. waaaaahhhhh.
Anyway we checked into the Poly in aug and I timed our check in just to make sure if anyone asked and also because I had read a post about someones bad check in experience. It took approximately 20 minutes and we checked in at noon so it was not the normal busy time. Yes the lobby has movies and sometimes you might hear the polynesian cast members playing the ukelele or doing poi balls etc. Once when I was in the lobby around 3 they were passing out cookies. You never know. But if you are on the FTP package I think it will take a little longer. Our check in was a little longer this time because I was waiting for my room request to be honored (Thank you great CM Juan). Hope you have requested your longhouse and also fax ahead of time 3 days to the room assignor, If you are conceirge then you probably dont have to do that. They will give you the map, your room/key cars, island news, I also ask for a printout of all my ps reservations. Credit card for charging privileges to your room, (If you have prepaid your FTP).
Sorry but the neverland club ends at 3 I believe for the resort time guests. I may be mistaken but I dont think so. You could also have your parents check out the resort and go to captain cooks and get a refill mug if you are planning on that or take the elevator upstairs, just to the right of the check in desk and go to the gift shop and get an autograph book and pen. Nothing like being ready to start the trip. You will love the Poly. Have fun.

Both times we have checked in at the Poly is was not busy at all. There was only one other person if front of us and plenty of CMs working. I really don't think you would have time to check out the Neverland club anyway as the building for that is a little more then a short walk. The lobby will keep him busy enough. The water and flowers, the gift shops, the area for kids to watch videos are some of the things to occupy him. When we check in DD only has time to check out the water and flowers and then it is time to get to the room. We always check in on a Tues or Wed around 1pm. We are leaving in 5 days for another great Poly stay and can't wait!! Have a great trip!:D

Thanks, guys, for your response.

We are not concierge. Will we be given leis, or is that just for concierge? Will we be driven in a cart, or that also only for concierge?

Thanks for the Neverland Club insight--sounds like we can just keep to the lobby.

Also, I'm going to slip a gift basket into the room for my son, and was planning on doing that right after we check in while he's still occupied in the lobby. Does this sound feasible?

Yes you'll get the cart and the leis. Is the gift basket being delivered to your room or are you taking it yourself. If you are doing it yourself, I guess you could walk it over before the rest of the gang arrives and wait for them or hop on the cart for a ride back to the room again after you return to the gch.
