I definitely do think the dessert party is worth it. For me it's all about paying a little bit extra so I don't have to sit on the curb on Main St., fighting with everyone else for some personal space. I'm also really short so if I'm on the ground, guaranteed someone tall will stand in front of me. At the party I can stand right up against the rail and no one can get in my way. The view is great, you don't have to get up to get your spot until about 5 minutes before the show, and in the meantime you get to eat really yummy desserts while you wait! You will hear many people say the desserts aren't worth the price and they're right, but what is worth it is the guaranteed viewing spot. That's my two cents!Ugh I'm so jealous that you get to go to MVMCP. The only time I went around christmas time was for new years so the parties were done. I was wondering (and this is probably a dumb question since you are doing it again but) do you think the desert party is worth it? We will be there next summer for my parents 30th anniversary and I thought this might make a good surprise for them.
p.s. I really hope your cousin gets better or at least that the treatment helps. I know how hard it is when a family member has cancer so I'm praying for you and your family.
Part of me secretly wishes I booked our Jan trip in December so I could see the Christmas decor... (Sigh)
We debated on January but the Christmas decor was too much of a draw!
I love your plans!! I'm so completely excited for you (plus I am rocking a serious Disney buzz right now!!) I was thinking of doing the dessert party on our Jan trip, but I may save it for next December.... I really need to hit mega millions so I can vacation at WDW on a whim!!
I hear you! I'm the budgeter in the house and DH keeps adding things on to this tripI have to rein him in!
Also, what an awesome weekend - it looks absolutely stunning up there... I think it's about 10 hours from me - we are looking for somewhere to go next summer.... Hmmmm So beautiful though! I'd probably have to get a passport....
If you come up this way make sure to drive the Cabot Trail! We just got rated the 8th most beautiful highway in the world, and National Geographic calls us the #2 most beautiful island in the world (after one of the Hawaiian islands!)
You looked wonderful for the wedding. I love your dress. What a fun weekend after the wedding. With the bonfires and the waves crashing it sounds like such a relaxing place.
Thank you! We had an absolute blast, it was a great time.
Your pictures of Cape Breton are amazing! Such a pretty place. We lived in Maine for a short period and it reminds me of there. Still want to get back up that way.
Hehehe like I just told Sarah above you, we have been named the #2 most beautiful island in the world by Nat. Geo and our Cabot Trail is rated the #8 most beautiful highway in the world!
Yea for getting the Wishes Dessert party reservation! Only DIS-er would frantically stalk the reservation threads - afterall, thats why were DIS-ers.
I was so upset last year when I thought I had missed out on it so I knew this year I would stalk that thread like a jungle cat!
Love your day 3 plans, AK and then MVMCP. We went to MVMCP several years ago and it was one of the most memorable nights at the MK that I have ever had. So wonderful.
We went once on our honeymoon, so magical! The castle light up show is the one that really gives me goosebumps.
Christine
Congrats on the Dessert Party!
Thanks!
It just warmed my heart seeing the picture of the two of you with EE in the background......and a giant cameras/lens strapped around your shoulders!![]()
Just like me. I'm still trying to get used to the looks and attention my gear draws from passerbys when I'm out and about especially the 70-200mm. Even my 17-55mm draws comments especially with the hood on. While meeting and greeting DD, Aladdin looked up and commented on how much bigger my camera was compared to the Photopass photog's camera.

I can just imagine that 70-200 would draw some looks! If I strip my camera down -- no grip, just my small 18-250 lens, no flash -- I get less looks now, I find more and more people have SLRs. It's when I strap on all the big girl gear that I get a few stares! Too funny about Aladdin comparing your camera to the PP Photog's!
On our to-do list is MVMCP. I really want to see the Christmas decorations. Everytime we've gone in the last week of January, we do get to see the giant crane parked by the Castle taking the lights off. I don't think the crane counts.
I usually go in late September and we get to see the crane putting them up -- that doesn't count for me either.I'm excited to see the Christmas decorations again, it's by far my favourite time of year!
I didn't really think about the contrast between an AK day and a MVMCP night, but you're right! It will be kind of interesting to go from one to the other. What a fun day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will miss the Christmas party and I would love to try it someday but I love all your AK yumminess and it will be a cool contrast to go from that to the party.
Very glad to hear the wedding went well and that everyone had a fun weekend. Sleep is overrated anyway.![]()
wow - the scenery where you stayed is incredible!!!
It really is, I'm lucky to live in a really beautiful place. Pictures don't do it justice!
congrats on nabbing the dessert partyI love it when the Disney stars align!
Thanks, I was so glad it worked out so easy! I thought it was going to be kind of tricky.
and you looked so pretty at the wedding!!!
Aww thanks!
So glad you had such a wonderful weekend at the wedding. And what a very "Maritime" thing to do having a "honeymoon" amongst friends.
It really is, isn't it? And we did lots of really maritime activities too!
One of these days I'm gonna get tipsy on Cape Breton Island!!!
Do it! But do it in a kitchen party with a fiddle, that's the best way.
We sure so have some pretty scenery around these parts.
It's true, we're lucky to live in such a beautiful place.
Oh wow, nice job on the Dessert party. It does pay to keep checking regularly.
Thanks! I was so scared I was going to miss it on the day of the wedding! So glad it worked out!
YAY MVMCP!! Did it 4 years ago and it's wonderful. The cocoa is VERY rich. Aww, since I'm missing Halloween this year, I'm really hoping to make it to this in December... if that trip actually happens.
I adore the MVMCP. We almost didn't do it in 2010 when we went but decided at the last minute to do it anyway, I'm so glad we did!
So happy to hear the wedding went well. It looks like you guys had a fabulous time!
Thanks, yes we really did!
Congratulations on snagging the dessert party reservations.![]()
Ahhh I'm so happy it worked out so well! It had me nervous.
Your Day 3 plans look terrific! I agree the wontons alone are worth the reservation at Yak and Yeti. The Christmas party looks incredible! I can't wait to read all about it.
Those wontons are basically the only reason we're going back. The food was good, but we would have been happy with getting some counter service lunch there, if not for those wontons!!
I can't wait to do the Christmas party again, now that I know a little more about it and what to expect from it!![]()
Hello!Hello!Just got caught up on your PTR. That's so cool you get to stay at AKL. It's #2 on my dream resort list. (with #1 being the Poly) My son is a HUGE animal lover so one day I would love to stay there! Looks like your plans are coming along and that you have survived a busy summer

Hahaha poor Phantom doesn't get to come this year!Glad you where able to get the dessert party without having to bring leave your phantom baby in the hotel room![]()
SO glad, oh man. I don't know how long it will last but I'm soaking up the boring while I can!I bet you are glad to get back to normalcy!
Great snag on the dessert party. We have never done it, but I think it would be fun.
I love your lists!! People shouldn't under-estimate the importance of lists!
Lists keep me sane. It's a tough job.
oh, something fun. I'm in:
Disney resort: WDW
Park: Hollywood Studios
Section: At Hollywood and Sunset Blvds
Ride: Tower of Terror - front row thank you very much!
Ahh yes... you can have it.My claustrophopia and inner control freak will not allow me to like that ride.
WOW! Just WOW!!! I don't think that even with practice I would EVER have photos like these!
Yes you can! I promise fireworks are easier than most people think. Long shutters, try a few tests, you'll get it
As for your other news and announcements. I'm glad to hear that the bachelorette stuff turned out ok. Good luck with the wedding this weekend.
Ahh thanks! It all went so easy and smooth, I got out of it in one piece but I'm still glad it's all over!
Sorry about your cousin but it sounds like some promising options. I wish them the best with the benefit event.
Thanks, he starts treatment on Wednesday if all goes well. Keeping our fingers crossed!
Seems like there was something else I was going to say but.... old age and what not....
You have a lot to keep straight when you just get home from a Disney trip, we can let this one slide.![]()
I'm glad I got caught up!! I always love your gifs and photos!!
I'm so glad the wedding went well and that you were able to book the dessert party!!!! That is so excitingI want to try it because I am also short and being jammed in the crowd doesn't work for me lol The desserts are also a major bonus
After doing the dessert party last year, watching the fireworks from Main St. a few days later was so hard to deal with!I got spoiled!
The wontons at Yak & Yeti are certainly worth going forYUM!! That is my favourite dessert there.
Oh those wontons! I didn't know what to expect from them, just that they came highly recommended. I was impressed, to say the least!
I love all of your lists! I love lists and making them always seems like part of the planning fun
That's a big part of why I do it, once the ADRs are made and the whole thing is booked it feels a little empty until the trip actually comes around. Lists fill the void!
I'm very glad Johnny decided he wanted to do it again!OH THE DESSERT PARTY
The chocolate covered strawberries alone are worth the price of the ticket![]()
How cool that you guys all stayed together for the long weekend. That's an awesome idea.
It was a great idea, especially since the couple lives away so we don't get to see each other very often. It was a great way to prolong the festivities!
Yay, dessert party! I love doing it so much. And good thing you didn't have to add a Phantom Baby.
Me too, I wasn't planning on it this year but I'm really glad Johnny stepped up and said he wanted to. And YAY for no Phantom Baby necessary!
Adding Yak and Yeti for the wontons is a great idea. They are incredible.
They really are. Depending on how hungry we are we actually debated just going in and ordering dessert!
Oh I am very jealous. We arrive right after the Holiday parties end. I would have had to taken the day off work and gotten my pay docked for taking it right before break in order to attend...oh well I really should not complain I will be in MK for Christmas Day!
I didn't realize the parties ended before Christmas Day! I was thinking they went until New Years Eve. But I'm sure there will be lots and lots of festivities planned, I would love to hear all about it!
The dessert party is on my list...we have a little while to think on it still. Not sure it will fit in our pans but...you all make it sound so great.
I would recommend it to anyone to be honest. Well, depending on party size and budget of course, but the personal space is what I pay for!![]()
Thanks for sharing the picture of you from the wedding. You look great!
Aww thanks, Dee!
What a fantastic idea for a honeymoon! Decompressing from what has been a hectic few months for the bride and groom (and friends) by spending some time together in a beautiful place!
It was a great idea, and since the bride and groom live away, they don't get to see many of their friends and family much so it was nice to spend some time with them.
When Mark and I got married a hundred-million years ago, we came up north to Montreal for a few days after our July wedding, but planned a trip to Disney in January as part of our honeymoon.
Nice! That's what my friends are sort of doing, they're hoping for Jamaica in the winter.
Love your Day 3 plans! Boma is a great place to start and then you have a fun day of must-do's planned for AK. We ate at Yak & Yeti on our 2008 trip and liked it but we haven't been back. Mostly because we like Boma so much, that is our usual place to eat when we are around AK.
I love Boma! I'm so excited to get there early, we've only ever done late breakfasts there.
The Christmas party sounds so amazing! Can't wait to see your pictures!
And congrats on the dessert party. Like you said, the desserts are really good, although not worth the cost, but the hassle-free view of Wishes is priceless. We were just commenting this weekend about how glad we are that we did it in July.
It is a really nice time, the view is great and the personal space even better!
