What's the biggest upgrade anyone's been given?

1st Timer here....

Wow...I thought all these upgrades I've been reading about were "free" upgrades. You mean DCL upgrades you to a higher category and you have to pay extra for it? Am I missing something here? I don't think I would be too excited about that. :confused3

Upgrades that Disney gives you are free. At port, many people ask if there are upgrades avaliable for purchase, then pay for them. :sunny:

cntkg1,
I noticed you are celebrating an anniversary on the Oct 15th cruise too!
Can't wait! I just added myself and DH to the Yahoo cruise database! :sunny:

Ok...got it now!! Thanks for clarifying that. Now I can hope for a little Pixie Dust too. We have a category 5 already, so I suppose there isn't much hope in upgrading from that. :)

Perdidobay...sent you a PM. Welcome to our Oct 15th cruise!!! :Pinkbounc

We had an upgrade from catagory 9 to 6 on our 2nd DCL cruise. Can't complain. Our 3rd sailing is coming up in a few weeks and we're booked into a 9 again. No change noted yet - nor do we really expect any since it seems to be uncommon with DCL - except to say we would be happy to have another upgrade it it's in the cards!

:cool1:

We have cruised Disney 3 times with no. 4 booked for March 18/06. We have never been upgraded and always pick the cabin we would be happy with. This time we have the secret cat. 7, 7120 booked. If DCL wants to upgrade us I'll put in my request for a cat. 3 Thank you! :goodvibes
Anyway book what you will be happy with and an upgrade is a bonus.

We were upgraded from a secret cat 7 to a cat 5. I was a good upgrade for us.

Not a big upgrade. but we went form a 6 to a 4,
it was just DH and I.
We loved having the extra space and loved being on deck 8.
I think it might have happend becaue we booked 11 months out.
Our next cruise is on RCCL in Sept 2006.
Im hoping for an upgrade.

We have connected cabins assigned to us. Has ANYONE EVER gotten an upgrade with 2 connected cabins? Or should I forget about any chance?
Melanie

Skwally....

You have to go to disney cruise - 1st REGISTER - and then LOG IN with your reservation number AND your birth date. Here is the LOG IN page - but you will probablyhave to register BEFORE that. Once in - nose around and you'll find PALO, SPA and Shore Excursion reservation sites. The Palo Reservation slots are not 100% f their capacity. Just that they make it POSSIBLE to make early reservations IF you do it well in advance of your sailing. I think you also have to be a Castaway Club repeat cruiser as well.... although of that I'm not 100%

Cabin assignments are up front once you're logged in.

Here is the log in site - might try that 1st but as I said - registration might have o preeceed this.

If I'm worng then I'm sure another friendly DIS lurker will chime in - otherwise if you have difficulty than just call DCL!

good luck - :cool1:

Does anyone think it would help my chances of getting an upgrade if I "just happen to mention" that is is going to be my honeymoon??? :)

Vickie you need to post. She just got an upgrade.

Okay,
from a cat 9 to a 6
I originally booked a cat 11, then changed my mind, paid for an upgrade to the cat 9 , then DCL upgraded me to a 6. Boy oh Boy!!!! :cloud9:
I was very glad because I had stateroom 2144, listed as a noisy room at the back of the ship. Now I am mid ship stateroom 6562 right by the elevators and stairs one floor down is the kids club, DDs 12 and 10 are going to love that.
26 more days until we set sail on the Sept 10 western. This is our 1st cruise every.

NOPE, lots of honeymooners on every cruise, along with all of those celebrating 10, 25, 50 years of marriage and countless birthday celebrations.

If you really want an upgrade the best time to book is during September and October (still huricanne season) and book a GTY room. Even then the odds are stacked against you from getting an upgrade.

I'm not sure if any answered this yet, but I'm curious as well?? Anyone? How about if two cabins are booked side by side but not connected? Has anyone one been upgraded for both cabins?? That would be awesome! :sunny:

We've always had 2 cabins, one verandah and one inside across from the other and on all 4 cruises we were not upgraded.

We originally booked a cat. 11 stateroom and picked out the room at the time. Later my hubby :love1: okayed a cat. 4. I called disney, paid the extra for the upgrade, and then hubby started freaking out about the additional cost involved. SO I called disney back not 2 hours later to see if I could downgrade and get my room back. They had already given the room away and put us in a cat 11 gty. This turned out to be a huge blessing because about 3 weeks before sailing I called in to find out that we had been assigned a deck 2 cat 9 room.

The light from the porthole was nice and the kids enjoyed the view.

This trip we have a cat. 12 gty booked for our family of four. This means at a minimum we will get a cat. 11 room. I like gty. status. I think you certainly have a much better chance for an upgrade in a gty room. (Why would they upgrade someone with a room number when MANY people select that particular area of the ship for their own reasons.)

By the way, my family is praying for an upgrade on this cruise, as well. Forget the pixie dust, I'm going straight to the top for this one. God beats Tinkerbell hands down every time! :flower:

We book a GUAR cat 12 and was upgraded to a cat 8. Not to shabby, LOL. We were so excited. We were not expecting it all.

5508 is a cat 8. Click on deck plans up at the top of the page. You can bring up any deck and by the color coding of the room see what category you have.
