Ew Ew Ew. So y'all are the ones eating those legs. Honestly I think the smell is awful, and it does look barbaric. I am a meat lover, but when I see someone eating a turkey leg and smell that smell....it's enough to make me want to become a vegetarian. I have to avert my eyes when ever I go past one of those stands or someone gnawing on one.

I don't eat meat, but DH (a big carnivore!) tried one last night. He took one bite and a bunch of liquid poured out. Needless to say he was digusted and almost got sick.

Now, after watching Upwrapped last night, he's contemplating giving it another go . . . ???

I always have one at MK. I guess I've been luckey as to the lack of excess juice.

I have'nt had a bad one yet.

They can be an effort to eat, but they are good!

For years we used to walk by the turkey leg carts enjoying the wonderful aroma! One year we broke down and bought one to share. The taste was fairly good, but it was SOOOOO greasy, that it actually repulsed me (not to mention the mess). Count me as one of those who says it smells better than it tastes!

The legs are the best. We cannot or I should say I cannot wait until we get one. They are juicy that it takes only a couple of bites to get to the center. Hmmmm come on December...

That liquid is the brine. Brine is a sugar/salt/water mix that they inject into the meat to keep it tender. (Atkins folks - beware! )

Nothing yucky - but I can see where that would be nasty if you weren't expecting it!

Really enjoy them as does my family. I have enjoyed them ever since the late 70's. I do not eat pork any more (Too barbaric eating scanvenger animals that will eat anything even thier own dung) but I do enjoy the smoked flavor of these. Smoked flavor not ham flavor.

We tried them one time and I thought they were terrible. I don't think mine was cooked throughly enough. Just thinking about it makes me gag.

I think they look like something Fred Flintstone would eat. Ughh. I saw "Unwrapped" last night, too. You could probably get me to eat a slice of those beautiful wedding cakes ($15,000 for a wedding cake!), but I'll pass on the gargantuan leg thingies...

If you purchase one of those turkey legs at Surf Doggie's at Typhoon Lagoon, they'll cost you $4.50 each. (Well, that was at least the price in August, 2002.) I presume that the price has gone up since then.

While I have seen other people eating them, I cannot comtemplate eating one myself.

Interesting note....Turkey Legs are 25 cents cheaper in Animal Kingdom than in MK.

Before you eat any at AK check for missing animals.

I do not like the taste of turkey legs when they are prepared the "normal" way. Usually for Thanksgiving, no one wants the legs from the turkey. We only want the white meat. However, because the turkey legs are smoked at WDW, we love them. While at MGM we kept smelling this wonderful smell & followed our noses until we got to a place selling turkey legs. Smoked turkey does taste exactly like ham. One Thanksgiving we made the mistake of baking a ham & smoking a turkey. We ended up having 2 things that tasted the same!

I did try one but I hated it. I just am not a big tuckey fan. But you should try one we all have different taste buds!!!
