.....to get to our Ohana dinner reservation? I posted this over on the Transportation boards and didn't get much input.

We will be at the Animal Kingdom and will be there just prior to park closing. We have a late dinner reservation at Ohana. Since we always ride Kali River Rapids, we may still be wet and yucky. If not, we'll probably just catch a bus to the Polynesian. In this scenario, what is the best way to get back to our resort, the Wilderness Lodge?

Scenario 2 would be us taking a bus back to the Wilderness Lodge and heading over to the Polynesian. What is the best way to get to the Polynesian? .....then back to the Wilderness Lodge?

What kind of time do I need to allow for travel?

Hope all that made sense.:confused3

Also, we've never been to the Polynesian. Is Ohana pretty easy to find?

Thanks in advance!

O'Hana is very easy to find once you are in the resort, no worries.

There is a boat from the Wilderness Lodge to the Comtemporary. From there you could take the monorail over to the Poly. We really enjoyed the boat ride when we stayed at Wilderness Lodge.

I hope this helps!

If the MK is open, the best way to get between the hotels is to take the boat from either hotel to the MK and then the boat to the other resort. From WL to Poly you can also take the boat to MK and then the monorail to Poly. If the MK is not open, I think your best bet is to take a taxi. I am not exactly sure how much time it should take. If you catch the boats with little or no waiting, the time will be different than if you need to wait for each.
The restaurant is in the main building at the hotel, it is easy to find.

We always make at least 1 ADR at the Poly during our WDW trips. And we always take a cab. From POR to Poly the fare was $13 I believe.

Okay, let's see if I can work these out.

1) AK to Poly - Direct bus. Wait time up to 20 mins, loading time up to 10 mins, travel time about 15 mins, walk time from bus stop to 'Ohana 5 mins. Total time from arrival at the AK bus depot to stepping off the bus at Poly: 50mins. Allow a full hour.

2) AK to WL to Poly - Direct bus to WL (wait time up to 20 mins, load time up to 10 mins, travel time about 15 mins, total approx 45 mins, allow 1 hour), then take the boat from WL to Contemporary (wait time up to 20 mins, load time up to 15 mins, travel time about 15 mins, walk time to monorail about 5 mins, total about 60 mins, allow 75) and monorail to Poly (wait time up to 15 mins, load time about 10 mins, travel time about 5 mins, total approx 30 mins, allow 45). Total travel time from AK to WL to Poly can be up to 2hrs 15mins, not counting whatever time you spend walking to your room at WL, changing, and walking to the bus stop.

3) Poly to WL - monorail to either MK or Contemporary (wait time up to 15 mins, load time 10 mins, travel time up to 25 mins incl. stop at GF, walk time from monorail station to boat 5 mins or less), then take a boat from either place to WL (wait time up to 20 mins, load time up to 15 mins, travel time about 15 mins, total about 50 mins, allow 1hr).

Of course, these are conservative estimates; if you happen to walk up to a bus, boat, or monorail just as it's preparing to leave, then your wait and load times go to zero. But it's best to be conservative when you're trying to make a scheduled ADR.

You can easily save yourself a bunch of time by taking a change of clothes with you that morning and changing at AK before leaving for Poly. Just leave the clothes in a locker at the front of the park and pick them up on the way out; there are bathrooms where you can change also near the front of the park.

Thanks so much for the detailed breakdown. Last year, we took a change of clothes to the Animal Kingdom and it worked really well for us. I think we may just do that. Even if we arrive at the Polynesian early, we can always explore the resort grounds.

Thanks for the input everybody. Now I need to try and decide what kind of clothes I need to take with us. Is the dress casual as in shorts and t-shirts?

Yes, 'Ohana's dress code is park casual, so your park clothes will be fine.

And exploring the grounds of Polynesian is always a good idea if you have some extra time.
