We are stay 12night this trip and my wife mentioned "why don't we got to universal one of the days" sounds fine to me but is the best way to get there by cab? Any Idea on how much that will be?

Costly for a cab... better to rent a car for the day. Check the transportation board for car rental options.

I think mears will be your cheapest option if you didn't want to rent a car for the day.

Someone reported paying $25 each way to the outlets off Kirkman Rd which is near US. I would think you are looking at $35-40 each way. You might look into renting a car for the day from Alamo, National or Dollar. We used a discount code and paid less than $50 for the day for a full size vehicle. We don't take the extra insurance so that helps and always return it full rather than pay for a tank of gas we may or may not use up.

Looked up Mears taxi one way estimate from Magic Kingdom to Universal - $37.25 depending on traffic, time of day etc. Interesting thing was that from "Disney Institute" it was in the $24 range This would be for the taxi not per person I think.

I have no personal experience but have read posts on the Transportation board about Lynx bus that you could catch at the TTC. Also once overheard a CM telling a guest that the Lynx buses also pick up at the Swan or Dolphin.

Could I call and as a CM at the swan or dolphin?

I have done this many times (WDW to US to WDW) - car rentals, mears, limo's and taxi's. I spoke with many CM's about this and different concierge staff at many resorts and the majority of them, as well as I, believe a taxi is most logical method of transportation

Mears and Linx charge per person ($12-$14 / person) and you have to be ready to arrive/depart on their schedule. You can probably find a deal online for a 1 day car rental under $50 but then you're restricted to being back before 6pm and you still have to get transportation to and from the rental agency (swam/dolphin/grovsners all have agencies in their hotels) plus then you have pay parking fees while at US/IOA.

A taxi, IMHO, is the best method to go from WDW to US. The cost is about $25 each way (depending on how much you tip) - so $50 roundtrip. You will be dropped off at the esculator by the parks entrance from the parking garage. When departing the parks, go to the same spot you were dropped and will see a large convoy of taxi's waiting to take you back.

Sure, if you want. Of course you could always reach someone who has no clue. And I suppose the CM could have been wrong or sending the guest on a wild goose chase.

But I would google it and plan on your own if you decide to try Lynx. It is per person but the site lists the cost as $1.50/per trip not $12-14. I didn't see Swan/Dophin but did find a trip from MGM to US with one transfer (don't know if there is another charge for transfers). There is a trip planner in which you can just list your theme park location. Fantasia Gardens is listed as an option as well as all 4 WDW parks.

Taxi or limo would be the most convenient of course but hardly the least expensive.
