I have a 4 yo and 6 yo and want to buy them a bottle for refilling with water that they can use in the parks. I'm looking at options by Nalgene, Camelbak --- any others that you'd recommend? Like one or the other?

Thanks!

I love my camelbak, because of the no-spill straw, but you do have to clean them better, and make sure they dry properly. From what I remember, Nalgene only has screw-off tops to drink from?

Contigo is what I get for my kids. The autoseal, not the cheap ones they sell at Target. They don't leak at all and are dishwasher safe.

We don't lug water bottles. You can get free tap water at counter services places (if they have a soda machine... So not the carts)... And just get those throughout the day.

We'll have our stroller, so its much easier to chuck a bottle underneath and use it when needed, than to have open cups of water sloshing all over. My kiddos are sippers, not chuggers, so bottles to sip on here and there work great. Hopefully I can get those filled at the counter service spots!

I wouldn't bother with a water bottle at DL. The water from the drinking fountains tastes just fine.

Okay, so let's just assume, for the sake of argument, that I'm actually asking about which water bottles you like for your kids.

If you don't use them, that is totally cool, great for you. But I'm not actually looking for alternatives. I'm trying to find out which water bottles folks use and like.

Cool? Thanks! :thumbsup2

I find that the water in Anaheim has a really odd taste to it, to the point of being undrinkable. I don't know what is making it taste odd but there is something.

Edited to answer the question!

DS has a bunch of thermos bottles that he uses for school, they have a wide mouth which makes refills easy and a straw which makes spills harder! :)

The kind he has is the Thermos FUNtainer.

Here is a link to the kind we have:

My favorite is to buy Arrowhead 8oz small bottles. One for each of us in our family. They are small and lightweight. We refill and reuse them as needed. Less weight and bulk in my small backpack I bring into the park, the better!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We take empty 12oz soda bottles, with the screw on cap. I carry a 16oz one for me. We'll fill them each morning and through out the day if we need to.

This way if the bottles are lost I'm only out the 5cent deposit.

They will give you a cup with a straw and lid at the cs places and then you can fill your bottle. At home we also use contigo :)

My kids each have these Nalgene sippy cups (same exact colors, actually lol). We bought them at Sportsman's Warehouse, though I'm sure you could get them at any sporting good store or online. There is a plug under the spout to keep it from spilling :thumbsup2

We are in the same boat. Having a stroller to tote our stuff around makes using water bottles the definite choice for our family too. You CAN use the soda machines at Rancho Del Zocalo, Pizza Port etc to fill up your water bottles with ice and water.

I don't have a preference on which water bottle we use except for that it has a wide opening so that it is easy to get ice into. Warm water from a water bottle is as bad as no water for me. Happy hydrating!

Kleen Kanteen Sport Bottle - 12oz -- and i love it b/c it has a loop that I can use with my mommy hook on our stroller! Its out of the way but I don't have to dig for it in the bottom of the stroller when he wants it.
and the opening is big enough to fill it with ice cubes to keep the liquid colder....since it is usually filled with water

We always take a Thermos Funtainer. It keeps water cold for 12 hours and it is very sturdy! My DD loves hers and they have some with Disney characters. Last time we gave DD a princess one as a pre-trip souvenir. She still uses it daily. :cool1:

We bring disposable water bottles into the parks. That way if we lose them or drop them we don't care. They get recycled when they are done and we don't have to lug them around when they are empty. We bought the kids straps that attatch to the water bottle head on one end, and their belt loops on the other end, to make carrying them easy.I know you said you had a stroller to store them, but i would never leave food or drinks unattended. You never know what kind of crazy people are at disneyland. For our youngest we buy the half sized bottled water so it's not so heavy to lug around. Just another perspective.

In the past my son just used a shop bought water bottle that we would half fill and freeze over night. Pull out in am fill rest of way with water, shove in side pocket of backpack and be good to go. He now has a camel back due to sensory issues. So we will be taking that on our next trip.

I don't have any experience for recommending specifically for kids, but I really love Vapur water bottles. They're plastic and can be put in the freezer, and folded up when they're empty. And I also like Klean Kanteen when I want to keep my water cold for hours.
