Looking for the best WDW resort (moderate/ value) for a family of 5? (the youngest is 9)

Thanks, Tim

The only one that might accomodate all of you in one room is Port Orleans-Riverside. Some of the rooms in the Bayou side have a trundle you can pull out from under the double bed. I have never stayed there, but from what I have read, the nine year old might have trouble on it unless there pretty small.

Maybe someone can verify that.

You can request two connecting rooms which is what we do. The extra bathroom is great. Depending on when you're going, you can sometimes get a value resort for $49-$59 with a code discount.

Some one has a picture of the trundle. Maybe www.wdwig.com or www.ourlaughingplace.com

Hope this helps.

No value sleeps 5. Riverside is the only moderate that sleeps 5. Reserve a bayou room with 2 double beds. The trundle bed is located under the first double bed. It slides out on the floor. My teens sleep on this bed with no problem. Riverside is a great resort! :p

I would do one of 2 things, depending on the ages of the people in your party.

1) if you have small kids, then get the one room in PO-R Alligator Bayou section. You will have 2 double beds, and a trundle, 2 sinks, one toilet and one tub.

2) if your party is on the older side, or you just feel you need a little room to spread out, I would get connecting rooms at one of the All Star resorts. This way, the adults could have a separate area to watch TV when the kids were asleep, and you would have 4 double beds, 2 sinks, 2 toilets and 2 baths. If you run across a good promotional code, the 2 rooms shouldn't cost you much more than the one at the moderate.

I love the moderates, but since your youngest is 9, 2 rooms at an All Star might be better. Unless they're very close in age, I'm guessing that your family takes a lot of bathroom time to get ready in the morning. If that's the case, you'll appreciate the 2 bathrooms. You'll also have more space and more privacy for the adults.

We too have this situation. We stayed in POR riverside in 2000 w/ 3 small children, it was fine. Unfortunately, this is the only moderate available for a family of 5, I have emailed disney before on this matter and they tell me it has to do with the fire code. Unless you plan on being in your room alot, I think a riverside room w/ trundle would be fine for your family.
