What's the best counter service place to eat at Animal Kingdom? Last time we were at Disney, I remember there not being a lot of variety for the kids on the dining plan, so I'm trying to plan out our trip so they don't have to eat burgers, pizza and hot dogs every day! LOL

Where's your fav CS in AK?

We love Flame Tree BBQ!!! They offer a baked chicken drumstick as one of the kid meals and my kids really like it. They also have good options for the adults. Looking forward to eating there again when we're at DW in 3 weeks.

another vote for flame tree. in all my trips to AK we've yet to eat elsewhere, we just can't pass up the BBQ! plus, its awesome to sit in the back pavilions and just get away from some of the hustle and bustle of the park

I agree Flame Tree, and the portions were big

We loved Flame Tree. The food was great, and...check out the view we had from our table! You could hear the screamers riding EE. Can't beat that. :)

well we to have did flame tree,it was pretty good. Diffently great for the kids:cool1:. Has anyone try the yak and yeti CS?, any good?

Yak & Yeti CS isn't bad but the seating there stinks. Not very many tables and hardly any shade. Flame Tree is our favorite!

I think most people opening this thread just want to see if any fool picks any place besides Flame Tree. It's that good. And the rest is ...meh.

I am going to make a point to try diffrent CS places in both AK and HS:stir:, because of the nagtive reviews or lack of them. I thought of getting one meal as a snack and share it with my DS and and his DGF.

I really don't care for any of the counter service stops in AKL. Flame tree has good food but having to sit outside is a real bummer, especially during the summer heat. We normally have breakfast at Tusker House, then conquer the park by early afternoon. Lunch back at the Resort always seems like a better option.

This was back in Oct 2009, so don't know if things have changed, but DS11 (at the time) and I got Yak & Yeti CS and took it over to Pizzafari where DS9 got pizza. We were all quite happy with our food and got to sit inside in the air conditioning.

ETA: When we got our food from Yak & Yeti, it was packaged in take out containers and they gave us plates. I can't remember if they did this because we told them we were taking it elsewhere or if this is how it is always served.

We've done this too-asked for it to-go. I love the hot italian sandwich and my son likes the pizza @ Pizzafari and the others liked Yak & Yeti-worked out good!!

We like Flame Tree but sitting outside with the wildlife was a little rough for us. We tried Pizzafari and enjoyed the food and indoor seating. I liked the hot Italian sub. The CMs were very helpful assisting us with seating. I am not a big fan of Yak and Yeti. Getting the food was slow and not that great. I just remember we ordered some sweet and sour chicken and it was dry chicken nuggets with some sauce dumped on it.
