We were there in May and looked at SSR. We'd rather buy into OKW or BWV. Can you still buy these through Disney or only through resale dealers?
Also wondering what the going point price is right now for SSR?
Thanks

SSR is the only resort they are actively marketing. They occasionally do have points at the sold-out resorts, but unless you REALLY need to finance through DVC, it's not very cost effective. DVC will charge a flat $84 per point for the sold-out properties. You can buy a resale for under $70 per point (plus a couple of bucks per point for closing costs.)

Recent reports indicate that DVC is offering one of two promotions to new SSR purchasers:

1. "Free" vacation between now and 2004, with SSR priced at $95 per point, or

2. Flat $10 off per point, bringing the cost down to $85.

People are also reporting that if financed through DVC, they are offering no payments and no interest until mid-2005. If true, there may also be limitations on when you can begin to utilize the points, so you'll want to confirm with your Guide if you are interested.

If you need to buy through DVC, I think SSR is probably your best bet. You get an extra 12 years on the contract, meaning more trips on the back end or a higher resale value in 20-30 years.

If you can finance yourself, go with the resale. OKW will cost you more up-front and the dues are lower. But BWV will always be the harder of the two resorts to book outside of the 11-month window. Decide which factor is most important to you and start contacting resale brokers!!!
