We are trying to figure out whats so great about it. Can you fine folks tell me about it. We have done two DCL cruises and never even knew about it. Whats so special? How much is it?

EVERYTHING

We did not go our first cruise. This will be our 7th and would not miss it. For dinner and brunch. From the food to the service. It is like no place else.

Is there a Big menu?

How much is Brunch/dinner?

What time is best to go or the hardest to get?

Please give me more info then "EVERYTHING"

We think it is the total package. We don't get that many 'adult only' nights at home. So, knowing the kids are happy in the clubs, the atmosphere at Palo, the food, the service, etc...

All in all there is NOTHING bad about PALO for us...We also did not go our first 2 cruises, and although I don't regret that, it would not be something I would miss again....:)

Once you have been, I think most would miss it as part of the DCL experience. I would.
It is also our only "date night" while the kids are off somewhere else on the family cruises.
Other cruises it is really nice to have dinner alone that is quite.

Maybe thats it. We don't have kids. Shoot, were only 22 and 24. So I guess when we do we will enjoy the alone time more. Is it more for the "alone" time or should we for sure try and get a brunch & dinner or just Brunch?

Kids or not, I would still go...It is quite the experience. Along with a sensational view  ...

I would go for dinner, but that is my preference. Many prefer brunch. Watch out, you may get addicted ;)

Palo is great, no question about it, but I don't think it is in integral part of a DCL cruise. We truly enjoy our meals in the dining rooms just as much. Maybe it's just us.

If I were unable to get Palo reservations it wouldn't affect my enjoyment of the cruise at all. There is so much to see and do that you can't possibly see and do it all. I do prefer brunch to dinner and if I could only get one reservation I'd go for the brunch.

Nothing is special at Palo. Nothing at all. Really! If you skip it, you won't miss a thing...especially brunch.

(Maybe if I post that enough, it won't be so hard to get those darn ressie ;) )

:rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I tried posting on the Resorts board that the Poly really stinks! Its Overpriced and not worth wasting your time or money. Didn't help, I still for the past two trips have not got an AP rate there!

We're planning our honeymoon and looking at trying out Palo on our 3 night cruise (Sept 25th). Can we pick which of the 3 restaurants it replaces on the rotation or is that determined randomly? I know it's an extra $10 but once that paid your meal is effectively "free", as with the others on the ship, e.g. you don't get presented with a check at the end right?

(Sorry, we've never cruised with anyone before!)

You do get presented with a "check" for the $10, as well as for any extra cost beverages you might have ordered. Many people add a gratuity over and above the $10, but it is not required.

Its like going to a 4-5 star dining room.

I think what makes it special is that it is more quiet (fewer people and no children) and intimate than the large dining rooms. You also have a waiter who is taking care of fewer people, so you get more attention. The food is a step above the regular dining rooms. Not to sound snobish, but my wife and I have eaten at world class restaurants (usually care of work) and on 5 star cruise lines and Palo is up there with the best.

No you typically can't pick which restaurant you will miss because you can't find your rotation until you check in. However, you can either try to get your rotation changed, or go to both your regular dinner and Palo. Just don't eat much at the regular restaurant.

We enjoyed Palo because it was QUIET! No kids at our table going bonkers, we could carry on adult conversation uninterrupted, we could relax and enjoy our food. We went with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed that. I think if it was just the two of us we would have been sitting, staring at eachother because we aren't used to adult only meals. ;) Oh, and the food is really really really good too! Our next cruise I definitely want to do brunch. It was dark outside when we had our dinner so we really didn't have any view to see. As others have said, kids or no kids with you on your trip, I would recommend Palo! It was YUMMY and service was excellent. (thanks Fabio:thumbsup2 )

Hey! I'm on that cruise! It's my first and we've been thinking about doing Palo as well. This is helping us decide.

This may sound sarcastic, but it's not. If we don't care about fine dining or whether there are kids around, is there any reason to do Palo?

If you are doing a 3-day or 4-day cruise or if this is your first DCL cruise I'd say no. If this isn't your first DCL cruise and you are doing a 7-day it might be a nice change of pace. If you are doing a 4- or 7-day I'd suggest trying to go for Brunch. It really is a nice event and you won't need to skip a night in the dining room to do it.

Lots of people never go to Palo and have a wonderful DCL experience. If it doesn't appeal to you go ahead and skip it.
