What's so bad about Stitch?

My son loves Stitch. He reminds me a lot of my dog. :stitch:
I remember riding Alien Encounter and my sister freaking out (she was 18 at the time). She was very glad that they changed that ride. I actually think it is kind of cute. My son loved it. Yes, you do have to sit really tall so that it doesn't squish you though.

The ride was okay...but I smelled like the chili dog burp for the rest of the day becasue the smell permeated my clothing :(

Actually, it's not Stitch that bugged me half as much as Lilo and the sister in the movie. For an "experiment in pure evil", he was better behaved. And yes, almost every character in every Disney movie exhibits bad behavior excused by the fact that they have a sad home life in some way. But Lilo and Nani were ordinary people in an ordinary town, too easy to identify with. They weren't stealing to eat, they were screaming and having tantrums at each other, and generally acting like 2-year-olds. Again, just one person's take on it, didn't mean to debate, especially since this is really :offtopic: .

They cleaned it up some for the series, thank goodness.

There is nothing wrong with Stitch the character (he's quite a cute little brat!), but the ride is horrible! The harnesses are uncomfortable, it is too dark for the kids that it is aimed at, it is stinky!!! What I remember most about the entire ride were kids screaming in panic - being held down by the restraints and not being able to get to mom or dad, the dark, the noise.... and it really was not very entertaining. :sad1:

On the recommendation from my sister the DD (Disney Dork), we chose not to take our 5 and 6 year old on this ride.

I have to admit that I am now a little curious to see how it is. Maybe in November.....

I dislike Stitch with the burning passion of a thousand suns.

He (with Disney's help) ruined my sister and I's favorite ride. It was not a favorite because it was inventive or better other rides but because we have so many memories there. IMO, the new ride DOES NOT compare by any stretch of the imagination. I remember my first time on Alien Encouonter screaming my head off and holding my sister's hand so tight our hands hurt afterward....

...then comes Stitch with his nasty burps and annoying personality to RUIN IT ALL.

Sorry Stitch lovers....but I'm still a little raw over the loss....

Not sure from the OP's original post if she wants to know about Stitch the character himself or Stitch the ride, but I don't care for either.

I never cared for Stitch the character (his voice is just WAY annoying IMHO) but he didn't bother me until WDW seemed to really overdo his presense in the parks. He is everywhere! I got sick of looking at him basically.

As for Stitch the ride...Alien Encounter was MUCH better. I understood Disney making the change in AE due to the popularity of Stitch, but they had an opportunity to make a really cool ride with Stitch and blew it. They ruined Alien Encounter by making a "sloppy" Stitch ride...you can tell that it was a hurried re-do, without the thought and imagination that go into most Disney attractions.

Stitch the character is OK by me. Nothing great or memorable, but nothing to get passionately hateful about either. Come to think of it, maybe that's the worst condemnation one could give him.

The attraction is a bore IMO. My elementary school aged kids love the TV show and movies, but find the attraction to be boring. We did it once, but they have no interest in doing it again. I guess if we were hanging around in Tomorrowland with time to kill and there was no queue we might, but otherwise we'll let others have the pleasure of enjoying SGE

I personally don’t like the character at all. Tends to be very grating & obnoxious. Granted I’ve never watched the whole movie. But the parts I’ve seen & the other times I’ve seen Stitch, just something about him annoys me. That being said, I tried the ride just to say I rode it. Surprisingly, I didn’t mind the ride at all. So for me, it’s not the ride at all{although AE was MUCH better}, it’s the character. Same goes for my DW. She didn’t like AE{too scary}. But she hates Stitch as well. The other thing that really annoys me is how it seems that Disney tries & tries to cram Stitch down our throats with every marketing chance they get. Obviously he appeals to kids, so it makes business sense, I just can’t stand it. You see him everywhere. The straw that broke the camel’s back was our last trip looking at some of the “2006” items, the ones that have the Fab 5 characters hanging around the numbers. Very classy, nice items. But now they include Stitch in some of those. Sorry, but Stitch doesn’t belong in the same breath as the Fab 5.

I never saw the movie but I like the ride alot better than Alien Encounter. Alien Encounter was boring. Atleast with Stitch you can laugh. Everytime Ive been on Stitch the smell hasnt been bad at all. Im actually glad they got rid of Alien Encounter and replaced it with Stitch. And on the note of Disney cramming people down our throat, I hate the new Pirates. Im not going to go on it ever again because of how they ruined it.

We went last year with our entire family. :grouphug: 9 people. Ages 2 1/2, 5, 11, 30, 32, 35, 36, (2) 55. None of us liked this attraction. The 2 1/2 & 5 yr olds were scared by the dark & loud noises. The rest of us were disappointed by the lack of plot & point to this attraction.

I think this was one of the few things we did not enjoy (other than the Country Bears where the A/C was not working & show was showing a need for a refurb.) We will not waste time on our next trip with this attraction. We will do Buzz Lightyear a 2nd time instead.

The ride itself was disappointing. I was really sad to see that they got rid of AE. It was so much better. On the Stich one, my husband and I got sick after Stich burps at you. For the rest of the day everything smelled like it.

I like the character, and I understand the "cramming" thoughts about Stitch being everywhere.

The ride is bad, although I still ride it for some funny lines and A/C. My favorite line "planet ee-arth," isn't even original, it's ripped from the movie.

Anyway, my pet peeve about the ride, and it bugs me every time, is that it's called "Stitch's Great Escape," and Stitch refers to himself as Stitch in the attraction, yet he has not met Lilo yet and does not have the name Stitch yet. His name is technically "Experiment 626." For an organization that prides itself on story in attractions, this is such a huge error in story continuity. It bugs the heck out of me.

Oh, and regarding the smells...the skunk smell in Journey and the Stink Bug smell in ITTBAB smell the same to me, as if when rehabbing Imagination yet again, they just threw in the same smell...has anyone else noticed that? Perhaps I just have a particuarly sensitive sniffer :)

As you can see, I have never been to WDW. So, why does everybody dislike Stitch so much? (I don't remember DL having Stitch when I was there.) Go ahead, let it out, make me understand! Does anyone love him??

DL doesn't have Stich's great escape. There is buzz lightyear ride that is similar to MIB ride at Universal.

I like Stitch the character, but the ride is an abomination to everything Disney. It is boring, un-imaginative and generally LAME!

I love Stitch and loved his movie, however, I hated the ride or should I say nonride. It was horrible. Thank goodness I had been prewarned about it from the boards so I didn't have my hopes up. The wait was only 5 minutes and I was determined to give it a try. Actually, I was hoping that I would like it and that I had a different taste than a lot of the other DISers. Oh well...it was every bit as bad as everyone said. It left me wondering.........Is this all Disney could come up with?

My DD7 liked SGE, and asked to re-ride it. DD5 wasn't interested in a second go-round, but didn't hate it. I thought it was reasonably cute, and don't mind it, but wouldn't walk across the park to ride it, either. It's one of those "nice to round out the day" sorts of attractions. It's definitely not "can we go there first", but I didn't think it was "I want my 15 minutes back" either.

Like most others, I loved Alien Encounter and was very disappointed to see it shut down so quickly in favor of a more kiddie-friendly attraction. I have not seen the movie so I don't know the character or backstory, but the spiels on the monorail, etc certainly didn't endear him to me. (Fortunately, I understand that those are gone now.)

So, I did the attraction on the last ride... and it wasn't nearly as bad as I had feared! I was glad to see that much of the AE features were still there, and I really liked the tracking arms (although that may be more on a technical level than a story one.) The stinky burp could definitely go, though. It was not nearly as good as AE, but certainly better than some other attractions.

I'd love to see it turned back into AE, with a few updates like the tracking lasers. But I think there's probably no chance of that happening. Oh well...
