What's so bad about Stitch?

In the first place, I wouldn't call the attraction a "ride." There's no ride to it.

In the second place, the attraction isn't attractive, so I wouldn't call it an "attraction."

In the third place, Stitch is ugly, was ugly in the movie, and probably will remain ugly in the future. He, she, it, ain't the least bit funny either. Probably the worst character Disney has ever created.

The only redeeming thing about the Stitch thing in the Magic Kingdom is that it might take a few people away from the lines for the worthwhile attractions in the park.

LOL

Enjoy.

Lots of things at Disney parks aren't rides, hence their consistent use of the term "attraction."

I dunno, when compared to the abomination that is "Enchanted Tiki Room: Under New Management", "Stitch's Great Escape" doesn't seem all that horrendous. :)

it is not stitch people dislike it is the ride that they hate.
it makes you sick and is completely pathetic
i am sad because it could have been a cute ride but they made it stink

As I stated earlier, it IS Stitch I dislike.

What makes the ride so bad?

It was hard for me to pay enough attention to be able to tell how bad it was. When we sat down, everybody started pulling the (completely unnecessary) shoulder harnesses down. Then a CM comes in the 'arena', yelling at everybody that they would come down automatically, and not to pull on them. OK... nice of you to tell us NOW. So a minute or two later they go down, and you have to push back on them to avoid being crushed. My DD, who was probably all of 65lbs got wedged in hers sideways, with a shoulder sticking out the chest part since she panicked and turned when it came down and wouldn't stop. She wasn't hurt, but she was a little freaked out being stuck, and it was too dark and noisy to get any help. Besides that? The ride/show/whatever had Stitch, some puffs of air and a chili smell that lingers in your hair for hours. In short, it sucked. Badly. We won't be back.

The ride smells funky

That's an understatement!

I liked Alien Encounter. It was scary and original. This ride well, to quote HappyLawyer...just smells funky.

they massacred AE which was a totally inventive attraction, something WDW doesn't build anymore. too many people cried about how scary AE was, and WDW dumbed it down to an attraction with no story whatsoever.

we braved it at the AP preview and haven't been back since. it's a horrible attraction.
WELL SAID!!!
I got sick of seeing Stitch with his tongue in his nose all over the buses. It teaches our children bad habits! They see one of their favorite characters do it, they think "Why cant we? Its like they are glorifying eating bugers. Of course as one parent pointed out in another thread (who lets her 7 year old watch Southpark) some people wouldnt care about that.

I don't understand the hate for Stitch or the ride either...mainly the ride I guess. I love Stitch and he's a great new Disney character! "Lilo & Stitch" is a cute and funny movie...one of my favorites! It's not the typical "fairy tale" and that's why I like it.

I've been on AE many times and it was my favorite ride after I went on it for the first time. I even still have my Skippy stuffed animal. I didn't find it scary at all either at the time and neither did my brother. We thought it was great and got a kick out of everyone screaming. I love the water being sprayed and the hot breath of the alien. I didn't think it was a big deal when they changed it to Stitch. I thought it was a good idea.

I went back to WDW in June for the first time, since Stitch's Great Escape opened. I was very excited to see it! I thought it was pretty much exactly the same as AE. Just Stitch, who is funny and not a scary alien. Then, the chili dog breath, instead of hot breath. No flying around. I honestly didn't see that big of a difference. There were still crying and screaming kids.

I enjoyed it and to me it is like being in the beginning of the movie. I'd rather see Stitch there, then that ugly bat looking alien any day. I still do love Skippy and he is still there! :)

The ride originally was Flight to the Moon and then Mission to Mars...no one was crazy about the ride then....errrr...show then either. It's just a bad setup and idea for a ride/show experience. They haven't torn it down and rebuilt, so they are working with what they had. Like adding on the harnesses.

As you can see...no harnesses and no tube in the middle with an alien. :teeth:

I liked AE I would love to see them bring it back. In fact I would like to see them use every trick in the book to make the scariest attraction/sensory experience they can come up with and replace Stitch.

I know, I know MK is a family place so that will never happen but can you imagine what they could do? It's just a thought.

Stitch is not a fun attraction I went on it once and I'll not be going again.

Holy cow. That photo brings back memories.

You gotta give the imagineers props for that one. They did the best they could with the technology they had at the time, I suppose.

I really miss AE :(

It's one of Disney's biggest mistakes, getting rid of it. It was a nice break from all the happiness, great ride if you're in a bad mood :rotfl:

WOW! Do people really hate Stitch, and his "Great Escape" that much?! I personally LOVE Stitch! He's cute, and he makes me laugh. I'll admit that WDW went a little Stitch happy, being that he's everywhere. But I loved the monorail with Stitch's little sayings... "Are we there yet? When are we gonna be there?!" He stole the words right out of my mouth!

Somebody mentioned that Stitch teaches kids poor behaivor... Something about the picture on the monorail with Stitch with his tongue in his nose... Does that really teach children to eat their boogers? Let me ask you this... Did any of your kids try and eat bugs after Timon and Pumbaa did in The Lion King? I doubt it. Did your kids drink a bottle of rum after watching Pirates? I doubt it.

The movie actually teaches kids about something rather important...FAMILY!

And, as far as the "Great Escape," it's harmless... Sure, it's pretty much a AE ripoff, but I feel AE was scaring more kids than Stitch ever would! Heck, at least Disney got rid of AE, and not something "major" like Space Mountain... Just think if Disney re-did that and made a "Stitch Mountain?" Then, I could understand the hate. Plus, I laugh to myself every time I think about the last part of the attration... "Cinderella....Your Prince is here!" I know I'm in the minority here, but Stitch isn't all that bad. But, we all get to have our opinions. If you think Stitch is "Dumbing" down our kids, what about other Disney characters, namely, Dory, Kronk, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum, Goofy, Dopey, etc... Is it OK to be "Dumb," just as long as you have a "loveable and huggable" factor? But, love him or hate him, I still think there's far worse children could be watching besides Lilo and Stitch!

I agree with one post that Disney needs a NEW and EXCITING super SCARY sensory ride. Think about it for a moment... For those of you who grew up going to your local fair every year... I dont know about you, but the most popular ride at the fair in my area was by far the ferris wheel, followed VERY closely by the Horror House. You know... where the guy rubbed your head during the ride. Big bloody bodies and strobe lights! Monsters whos heads jump at you and such. :rotfl2:
The ONLY problem I saw with Alien encounter was the LACK or REAL and CONVINCING warnings for young children. There was like ONE sign. It was SMALL, and you often didnt see it. I saw WAAAAAY too many VERY LITTLE kids being dragged on, and some, walked on not knowing because mom and dad are there lying to them "It wont be that scary." ha! I'm a 34 year old thrill seeker and the first time I rode it I was scared!!! I'll admit it! Now the second time I probably wouldnt have been scared, but it got removed before I rode it again. They came off looking like they just had a near death experience. That wasnt right, but much of that was unconcerned parents.
Also, I went to WDW many times before I actually stumbled upon the ride. I dont know how we missed it!
I thought it was great!
Tower of terror is GREAT, but its not "scary" its "thrilling" Haunted Mansion is FUN, but its not scary either. Disney definately needs a VERY WELL WARNED ADULT ONLY scary sensory ride!

The ONLY thing I like about Stitchs Great escape IS the chilidog!!! I think its COOL!!! Makes me HUNGRY!!!.............YUMMY!.........Thats the MAIN reason we ride it!
