What's Santa Bringing Your Kids?

Just wanted to apologize. Not for what I said; but for the fact that I temporarily hi-jacked the thread. There are just some things I can not and will not ignore. Even if my post gets deleted or would cause me to be banned. Again...sorry for hi-jacking.

I read the thread title as What's Santa Bringing Your Kids?. Not Let me tell you how much better I am than you. Did I miss something here?? What in the world possessed you to come into this thread and make your unsolicited opinions known? Please answer. I'm really curious as to what flavor cookie you'd like.

I am scared for a number of reasons.

decided it's not worth it. Cause I can see where this is headed and I enjoy being a member of these boards. And if this poster is going where it sounds like they are going with the above comment; then I will most assuredly get banned

Good for you for being the bigger person. :thumbsup2

I'm glad people like this (trolls) are fairly uncommon on the dis boards. Especially when they get away with blatantly rude and disrespectful comments posted directly at another member.

Congrats on the new baby DisKnee!

Your right and it isn't rude to say I am depriving my kids? I think that is the pot calling the kettle black. It is ok I guess if it comes from you and not a troll such as myself (I am a very pretty troll by the way).

I am trying to raise children who think of other people, who use their imaginitions and I don't need toys for them that do nothing for their minds and sit in the back of their closets until I give them to Goodwill. So if you want to raise two "spoiled brats" go right ahead (your words, not mine). You sound so proud. Buying your children gifts does not make you a better parent. And I have found that people who feel the need to buy their kids everything under the sun are overcompensating in some way. My kids have everything they need, especially time with me doing meaningful things (and this does not include shopping at TRU!).

Sorry if the truth hurts. For someone who didn't have "two nickles to rub together", your sure are making up for it now. Your kids will tear through their gifts and still want more. But hey, your kids and when they are teens you deal with it. I won't have to because my children are well aware of what true deprivation is. They don't understand greed like your kids will. Hey if you want to say such a rude thing (depriving my kids, you obviously have never seen suffering to make such a cruel comment) then I have every right to respond. Call me a troll all you want becasue it is easier than dealing with the truth.

By the way, how old are you? "Get a life", that is something my 11 year old would say (but she doesn't because she has better manners).

Okay, I'll add my list and a sweet story, too. DS just turned 3. He is getting from Santa:

1)Tricycle with removable parent pushbar so I can make sure he won't drive out into the street right away!
2)A bead maze
3)Disney Storybook Collection (nice hardover book for night time storytelling)
4)Little Einstein's board book (he loves books!)
5)Stocking stuffers...2 mickey coloring books found at Target for $1; candy; small Tow Mater car

I thought I was done. Then, I took him to see Santa, let him watch a cartoon that told the story of how Santa gives presents on Christmas Day, and decided to ask him what he wanted Santa to bring him on Christmas. His answer... "Trucks!"

I thought he would forget about "trucks" so I waited and asked him again the next day. His answer..."Trucks! A blue one, a yellow one, and a red one!"

Again, I really didn't think he wanted trucks (he is more into books, ABC's, and learning games) so I waited a few more days and asked him again. His answer... once again..."Trucks! A blue truck, a yellow truck, and a red truck!"

So I asked him why he wanted three trucks from Santa. He answered sweetly in his little 3 year old voice "One for Mommy, one for Daddy, and one for Ryan!"

I nearly cried! This is the first year he has been old enough to ask for anything from Santa, and without any prompting at all, he asked for something for each of us! I then asked him if there was anything he wanted Santa to bring for his stocking and he simply said "candy canes".

So I am off to find a red truck, a blue truck, a yellow truck, and candy canes!

Merry Christmas, DIS family!

Oh Tigger!!! Such a sweet story. Isn't it amazing how kids are just naturally so generous?

You must be so proud!!!

Well, I'm trying to "deter" Santa, because I try not to spend too much, so I tell them the presents say from Santa, b/c he helps Mommy with all the shopping, but Mommy & Daddy send him the money..

Each of my 3 girls get pretty much the same, saves the headache & hassle:

3 matching leapord print skirts, 6.25/pc - Children's Place Clearence
2 shirts each girl from Kohl's/Old Navy - all clearence ranging from 2.50 - 8.00
3 coloring books - $.97/pc
3 Bratz Doll dancing stages with Bratz Doll - 10.00 each - (Target clearence last year)
3 Bratz "Kidz" Dolls - 8.88 each - Wal-Mart sale
3 Disney Princess Coloring/Stamp/Sticker books - 9.99 each - Sam's Club
3 - $50.00 Savings Bonds for College - 75.00 total
Dollar rack stocking stuffers from Target - 3.00 spent on each..

TOTAL SPENT: $200.00 (apx. for 3 kids)

I also spent apx. $30.00 for 6 teachers (including Sunday School teachers) gifts.

I spent $15.00 on misc. toys - donated to Toys for Tots.

I will pick a name or two off an Angel Tree at our local gas station.

My oldest DD's class is doing a food drive rather than a gift exchange with classmates, so I plan to go with her & buy a bag of groceries to donate.

On others: I spent $30.00 on my only niece/our goddaughter (my only ds's daughter, only one I have on my side) and $40.00 on 3 gifts for DH's side -nieces/nephews - name exchange, so I drew 3 names to buy for and the gifts are for 1 child from 1 of my girls.

My parents - $60.00 (split with sister) & we will be buying their MNSSHP tickets for our '07 trip, so they will get a card for that.

My Grandparents $30.00 (split with sister), and we are "making" a memory book for my in-laws, so no money there just time, but I still might sneak in a 25.00 gift cert to their fav. restaurant, I'm also "making" a family tree for Dh's grandparents, so I only have small cost for leaves/stain/pix developed, under 10.00 as the person who made the 'tree' didn't charge me!

DH & I don't do "gifts" because we usually just get something if we need it, and we just love the whole "giving" spirit towards our loved ones.

So total I'm spending on Xmas this year is probably around $400.00 - $425.00, I don't think that is too bad for the number of gifts I have to give..

I guess you could also count the airfare for our WDW Trip in October, but I'm taking the easy way out & telling them that is part of next years' gift from Santa, since it's closer to next Christmas..

**I guess I can't forget their biggest gift but that's from Papa a.k.a. "Santa" who is paying for all of our expenses except airfare for our Oct. 07 WDW Trip!

Happy Holidays all!!!

DD (8) is getting a new bike and DD (22) and DS (19) will be getting around £30 cash or gift vouchers each :thumbsup2

Unfortunately we've had to cut back pretty drastically this year as DH's brain tumour hasn't been behaving itself recently meaning he hasn't been well enough to work much :sad2:

I am so sorry to hear about that. Have a wonderful Christmas and I will say a prayer that this next year is better for him and your family. {{hugs}}

On St. Nicholas Day (next Wed), St. Nick is bringing DDs Disney Crocs filled with chocolate, lip balm, lotions, and Build a Bear Eeyore and Pooh costumes to go with their Happy Feet penguins.

On Christmas, Santa is bringing a Nintendo DS plus one game for 2 DDs to share. 10yo is getting a pottery wheel and 8yo is getting the new Crayola cutter. There are some nice colored pencils and a few other art items in his pack for them, too.

DH and I are giving them several Littlest Pet Shop things since it is the ONE thing they play with consistently along with 18" Disney dolls that I bought waaaaayyyy back awhile ago on clearance.

10yo bought 8yo a Curious George book and 8yo got 10yo the Pirateology book.

The two of them also made some selections today (on their own, asked if they could do it) to donate to Toys for Tots. 10yo chose a knitting machine and said it would be the "perfect" gift. Not only is it a toy, but it could help someone stay warm. :lovestruc I watched her eyeing it as she chose it, so Santa may toss one of those on the sleigh for them, too.

I was one of those kids whose parents with plenty of money "underindulged" them on Christmas. I never actually complained to my parents but I always felt slighted when all of my friends got sooooo much stuff and seemed to love and look forward to Christmas so much more than I did. I think their parents' excitement about giving reflected on the kids' excitement about receiving gifts. We never had the magic of Santa because Christms was only about Jesus. Trust me, I knew the Christmas Story VERY well and my parents certainly did a good job teaching me to give to charity and save money. I still never actually enjoyed Christmas until I had kids of my own...

I try very hard not to go too overboard, but for the first time Christmas is soooo much fun! We do silly things like leaving Santa footprints and half-eaten cookies. My kids love the magic of Santa as well as lots of presents under the tree. This year's list-

DD6
Cabbage Patch with color-changing hair
Stacking cups game
Leapster and a few games
Spirograph
Small globe

DS4
Cabbage Patch baby (he'll probably hate ;) )
Leapster and a few games
Bristle Blocks
Cars cars
Truck

For Both
Peter Pan Disney Heroes Pirate Ship
and accessory sets
Stocking stuffers- small toys and candy

Woooohoooooooo, can't wait!!!!!!!

My parents never had much money but, regardless of what I asked for, I received what they thought I 'should have' :confused3

It normally cost the same as what I'd asked for but was never, even remotely, the same thing! ;)

Consequently, wherever possible, I buy whatever I'm asked for and can possibly afford  :cheer2:

I am going to add my list, my DD5 has only been asking for one thing from Santa, a Butterscotch furreal pony. The other day her DGD asked her what Santa was bring her and she said "A Butterscotch pony becasue I have been very good this year Grandpa". I've been back and forth with myself and DH about the butterscotch pony since it is expensive and I haven't seen any in the stores and on ebay they are just outrageous (absolutly could not justify the cost if it was the only place available.) But today must be our lucKy day becasue DH was at a local store and called to say they had ONE and it was one sale!!!! So I'm off to take back things that I bought since I didn't think we would get one. Sorry a little off topic, but I am excited. So here's the list:

DD5
Butterscotch pony
My little pony stylin pony
Bratz ice rink with doll
Littlest pet shop play set came with free Littlest petshop game
GBA barbie game came with free bag and was on sale!

And some stocking stuffers.

I can't wait for Christmas morning! :Pinkbounc
