What's Rapunz/Cindy like at rope drop?

Putting together fastpass+ plans for late January. When we were there last time (last late jan, before E+A moved into PFH, low season), at rope drop we could calmly walk to the hall and have <10 minute wait. I know the E+A line fills fast at rope drop, but what's it like in the non- E&A line these days. Worth trying for stand-by first thing, or should i FP+ it?

The Cinderella and Rapunzel line has changed much, the first hour of park opening they still have a fairly low wait time. Everyone is still making the mad dash for Anna and Elsa :-)

agree with this. We did the Anna/Elsa rope drop last week, there was hardly anyone there for Cinderella/Rapunzel.

That's kind of sad but that's also really good news for DD who is really looking forward to meeting Rapunzel!

They did not allow running, they had CMs holding a rope, people were supposed to follow them. Some people actually tried to actually lift the rope and walk under, between the CMs. Unbelieveable. Others walked around the rope when they got to the hub and the road was wider than the CMs and the rope, they had a guy go after them and send them back. We stayed in line, behind the rope, walked with the crowd. Only got there to park opening as the Welcome show was beginning, so not super early. Our photos are time stamped 9:28 am. So, less than an hour after we arrived at the gates we were in and done. Not too bad, since we were unable to get FPs.

OP here, just wanted to follow up on original post. we were there on Friday 1/23 for welcome show/rope drop. Inside the gates but nowhere near the entry way to park. After the show (around 8:45?), we walked with the crowd far from the quickest in the crowd, didn't once see the front of the crowd), through the castle, around the carousel, and into the Cindy/Rapunz line. E&A line was crazy long already, we were second in line for C&R, this was a few minutes before 9:00am. They were already letting people into E&A but we had to wait until after 9 to get let into C&R. So rope drop for C&R is still a great strategy.
