I was a difficult child as well (; whenever my parents would walk one way, apparently I used to run in the opposite direction, LOOOOL. but I would get sent to 'the naughty step' and then I'd start crying and I'd sit by the door and saying how sorry I am HAHA

Spanking is usually used as a method to teach them not do the wrong thing. I personally, wouldn't spank the first time but like if my kid was repeatedly doing something I've told them not to do, I'd give them a swat on the behind to reinforce the "NO" KWIM?

I didn't get spanked much, but I have gotten spanked before. I don't exactly think it's wrong, but I probably wouldn't do it to my child. I feel there are better ways to settle something than just flat out hitting your kid.

Yeah, pretty much. Down in the south, (here in TN and other states), it is sorta common to whip a child with a belt. Thankfully, its not done as much as it used to be, but it unfortunately happens a lot here. I find it kinda sick to do that.
