“How was your day?” my mom asked me as soon as I got into her car.
“Fine,” I said. I loved that word. It was the word that I could use that pretty much describes nothing. If my parents ask me how my day was or anything that I could use I’d just say “fine” hoping that it would be enough. Of course, it wasn’t good enough this time.
“So are any of your friends in any of your classes?” my mom asked pressing for more info.
“No,” I said looking down. I didn’t want to talk to her about my day. I was tempted to tell her about the guy in gym but decided not to.
“None?!” my mom was shocked.
“Yeah, none,” I said again. She drove in silence the rest of the way home.
