The holidays were one of the best events of the year, as families finally came together, gifts were exchanged, and the delightful smells of home-cooked meals filled the air. In the Mylee household, a tall Christmas tree stood in the far corner of the living room covered in various ornaments, tiny white lights, and beaded garland. Each decoration represented an important moment in the families' life, ranging from the parents' marriage, children's first Christmas', and even special summer vacations. Sitting on the very top of the tree was an angel that wore a dress made of white silk, placed there by the younger of the two siblings-a fourteen year old girl by the name of Olivia Grace Mylee.
Walking down the shadowed path of Diagon Alley, Olivia clutched a small piece of parchment in her hand that listed the wanted items of her father, mother, and older brother. It had literally taken ages to finally convince them to allow her to pay the shopping center a visit this close to nightfall but, once the fact that she was no longer a helpless infant was mentioned, they finally gave in.
While being the youngest did give the girl an advantage in many situations, it did nothing more than cause problems in others. Trust seemed to be the core of the issue for, no matter how many times she attempted to convince her family otherwise, they continued to believe that she was only a child and, therefore, was too young to be trusted with any 'adult' responsibilities. Maybe, if they had known that the reason for her wanting to come to the Alley in the first place was to purchase Christmas gifts, they would have begun to think a bit differently, but Olivia had conveniently decided to leave that tiny fact out. After all, gifts were supposed to be kept a secret until the big day arrived and the Hufflepuff was determined to make sure this occurred.
After coming to a stop, Olivia glanced at the list of items before crunching it into a ball and stuffing it into the side pocket of her jeans. In all honesty, she really didn't like having lists while she shopped because they were just so
not fun. Digging through all of the different things and seeing what they did made shopping a lot more enjoyable; that is, as long as one was sure not to accidentally break any of the valuable merchandise as they did so.
Turning her attention to the surrounding shops, the badger searched to see if she could find anywhere interesting to go until her eyes fell upon a boy who seemed to be yelling at
was that his father? Looking from the boy, to the man and back again, there did seem to be some similarities, but the thought of a father allowing his son to speak to him in that manner was almost unheard of. The kid actually appeared to believe that he was the king to the castle and the father wasn't doing anything about it! Oh, what she wouldn't have given to have parents who acted in that manner. She would have been able to do and receive what ever she wanted without ever being treated like she was five years old all the time
After finally coming to the conclusion to walk up to the pair, Olivia turned to face the son before saying "Hey, do you and you're dad need any help? My brother used to work here, so I know where most of the shops are if you guys are lost."
