What's on the Christmas/Christmas Eve menus this year?

With you 100%. I skip the 7 fishes and focus on the other Italian dishes on Christmas Eve.

End of the evening tradition in my house is Hot Cocoa with marshmallows and buttered toast.

What I miss is my Borden's Egg Nog in the big can topped. Haven't been able to find the cans for years, so I assume they no longer make it.

Borden still makes egg nog, but I think it's now only sold in those vacuum packed boxes. Saw the boxes at a local supermarket last week. Haven't seen the cans in several years. I liked the cans because of those ridges on them.

Lucky you! My family spent last Christmas Eve at at the Feast of Lele on Maui last year. Best Christmas ever.

I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. This is our big gift to our children. My husband and I are even upgrading to First Class with FF Miles. Everyone is going nuts and it's all we can talk about. I just hope it is not a let down after this major buildup.

Your post saying it was the Best Christmas Ever just made my heart jump a bit:lovestruc

We took all of our big kids too and one girlfriend. Paradise is what it is. Our kids "only" got stockings last year and this is the case every year we are away at Christmas. No place on Earth beats Hawaii though. I'm green with envy.

PS You can whale watch from the beach but I highly recommend booking an afternoon or sunset sail on a catamaran if it's the only event you plan.

My oldest son is hosting Christmas Eve this year, and I have no idea what they will have. I will make anything they ask me to make.

I host CHristmas Day and we are having Prime rib, roasted rack of pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, an assortmant of whatever veggies I want to make, and we will start with some sort of fruit cup. Lately my adult kids have been asking for the fruit cocktail we used to have when they were little. WIth orange sherbert! LOL!

Desserts will be chocolate cream pie, carrot cake and whatever the kids bring. I seldom offer appetizers anymore because we neve seem to eat dinner.

I think I am making either cinnamon rolls or a baked french toast casserole for our breakfast.

I know we are going to DSs and DDILs for Christmas morning to see kids open gifts and because DS has to work later in the day. Not sure when we are opening gifts as a family. DH and all the kids work Christmas Eve and the kids work the 26th. It seems like someone is either working or away at school.

Not sure what we are eating!

We usually do pizza or a bunch of appies on Christmas Eve.

Christmas Day is always turkey in some form or another. Since Thanksgiving here in Canada is earlier than the US (early October) we haven't had turkey in a while ;-)

Christmas Eve shrimp cocktail, shrimp scampi and a chocolate mousse yule log.
Christmas Day lasagna, garlic bread and chocolate bombs/cannolis.

Christmas Eve is going to be very easy, either a selection of finger foods or a BBQ with a green salad and potato salad or rice salad. Santa needs to have the little ones tucked up in bed quite early..

No idea about Christmas day. My parents always host it and we drive to them as they're elderly, I've asked if they want to come here one year but I think all the extra traffic on the roads freaks them out a bit. Much safer for me to go there. They are waiting on the weather before deciding on a menu. If it's cool, it'll be traditional turkey etc. If it's hot, it'll be cold ham and other meats, finger foods, salads etc. There will be a plum pudding as mum has already made it, and I'll probably pester her for her trifle as I can't make it as good as hers.

Boxing day, I'll probably drink wine.

I haven't heard a word about Christmas Eve this year however, Christmas will be tacos. They wanted tacos for Thanksgiving but a few of us (including me) couldn't stand the thought of a no turkey/stuffing Thanksgiving. A few years ago we came up with the idea that it's just too much for all the present openings, all the grandparents/aunts/uncles dropping in for my DIL/DS to have another big dinner at their house so tacos it is.

There's just the five of us here. DH and I, DS (19), DD(6), and my Dad lives with us. Family tradition is sloppy joe's w/ Ballreich potato chips on Christmas Eve. So that is what we have every year.

Christmas day used to be just whatever we decided on. But the last few years it has been a prime rib pasta. Last year we couldn't find a prime rib roast under 5lbs so I used a rib eye steak and it worked just as well so I think that is most likely what we'll be having again this year. Christmas breakfast is always homemade overnight cinnamon rolls. I'll probably also make some homemade flaky croissants since I can't handle the sweetness of the cinnamon rolls anymore.

I make a prime rib on Christmas Eve.

Christmas morning, we have breakfast casseroles (usually a french toast bake and some sort of egg and cheese one). Then Christmas dinner is always turkey and stuffing. I know, kind of Thanksgiving-like, but our family really likes turkey.

Eve is always a big Italian fish dinner with the family. Lots of fried shrimp, scallops, calamari, etc. Plus homemade calzones, chick pea soup, Christmas cookies, Italian pastries. Day is home with homemade lasagna, garlic bread, artichoke dip, cookies, and naps!

Sounds so good.

My DD, DH and I will go out to eat with friends for Christmas Eve, then head home and chill for the night.
Christmas Day I will make a sausage crescent roll bake(from Pinterest), crockpot hot chocolate, and something else(not sure yet), appetizers will be shrimp wrapped in bacon, cheeses/sausages, cream cheese/olive dip with crackers, also my mom makes a fantastic punch. For dinner we are eating tacos with my mom(she lives next door), sister and family. Dessert will be fudge and mini eclairs.

Christmas Eve we go to breakfast to celebrate DDs birthday. She gets to pick out the place but it is usually Der Dutchman. Then we have Pizza and birthday cake for Christmas Eve dinner. Christmas breakfast is monkey bread, fruit, doughnuts, cheese ball/crackers, and of course candy from the stockings. Christmas dinner is usually just finger foods but DH would like me to make a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and rolls. Of course I have never made any of these things before because his dad always cooks Thanksgiving dinner. I need a Christmas miracle. pixiedust:

We have either Tourtiere (French Canadian meat pie) or a big Spaghetti meal for Xmas Eve depending on which side of the family we eat with.

I usually spend the entire day Christmas Eve making trays of homemade cinnamon rolls for friends and neighbors to have for Christmas morning. No time to prep for a meal Christmas Eve. Usually I do a crockpot of meatballs with some rolls, a salad, and cookies for dessert Christmas Eve after Mass. Christmas Day we have cinnamon rolls for breakfast and then we travel to my in-law's and my Dad's an hour away and have 2 turkey dinners :jumping1:
